It's that time! Mating Season!

Chapter 3

Gray's POV:

We were boarding the train back to Magnolia when Natsu started feeling sick again. We weren't even moving yet. I don't know why but I feel very protective of him right now! People keep staring at him, so I shoot them evil glares.

Natsu's POV:

As we board the train I look back at Gray, only to find him glaring at anyone who looks at us. I look to see that his eyes are red. As soon as the train begins moving I get sick. When I look up again I notice his eyes have gone back to their normal dark blue.

...Wonder what that was about.

Gray's POV:

We set in our seat and the train begins moving. He gets sick so I lay his head on my lap and run my fingers through his soft hair. He soon falls in a light slumber, so I prop my head up on my hand.

"Gray?" A voice asks and I look over to see Sting and Rogue next to me. "Hey guys," They look at my hand and smirk. "Oh this, he got sick again." I ramble pulling my hand away from his head. He whines slightly in his sleep and I sigh.

"Wait how are you two not sick?" I ask.

Sting holds up a potion bottle. "We bought a few of these for our trip to Fairy Tail, Makarov wanted us there for some reason." I nod and Rogue taps Natsu who wakes up instantly, groaning.

"What the, he just got to sleep." I groan. "Calm your ass Gray! Now, here Natsu." Sting says to us. He hands Natsu a potion and tells him to drink it. He does and is instantly feeling better. I sigh and smile. "Thanks Sting, I appreciate that!" He exclaims and Sting nods.

We make it back to the guild and I take Sting and Rogue to the gramps' office. As I'm about to leave gramps asks me to bring Natsu up to his office.

As we make our way up there he asks me what this is about and I just shrug.

"Mating Season?" I ask and gramps nods. He explains it to us and I glance at Natsu. So that's why I feel so protective of him....

"There are dominants and submissive of each couple. It's pretty much how you think, Dominants protect the submissive of the two. I've already told all of the slayers beside the four of you." Gramps says. "So we have to find out who is who's mate." He finishes and I stand.

"I-I already know who mine is." They all look at me. "Who is it Gray?" Gramps and Natsu ask at the same time.

I look at my feet and then to Natsu. "M-me!" He exclaims. I nod and explain how I know.

"Oh, well I've felt that way too, since the day all this happened." he murmurs and I grin.

"So I take it that Gray is the dominant one here?" Gramps asks and I nod. "W-what? Why?" Natsu asks and I look at him. "Because. Now come on." I grab his hand and pull him out to the guild halls main room.

Once we reach the bottom of the stairs I take Natsu to a booth and surprisingly no one noticed our intertwined hands. I look around at all the others.

I see Gajeel holding Levy close. Chelia holding a blushing Wendy's hand. Laxus with his arm wrapped around Freed's shoulder. Then after about ten minutes I see Sting and Rogue walking down from gramps' office holding hands and blushing.

Natsu's POV:

Gray dragged me to a booth and sat me down in between his legs. I turn to see that his eyes were red again. Maybe this has to do with that Mating Season thing Gramps told us about.

"I'm back everyone!" I hear from the front of the guild. I look to see Erza. That was quick.

I go to stand but his arms pull me back. I hear a low growl come from his chest. "No." Is all he says before pulling me into his chest.

I feel the heat rise in my cheeks as we sit there. I still haven't fully accepted this yet, and he's kind of making it harder, but I guess he can't help it.

"Hey Natsu.... Gray?" Erza says when she walks over. She cocks her head to the side at the sight of us. "Just go ask Lucy or Levy or Gramps." I say and she nods, slowly walking away.

Erza's POV:

I walk away from the boys and towards the bar where Master, Mira and Lucy are. Why is Gray hugging Natsu like that?

"Hello Master, girls." I say with a smile. "Hello Erza that was a quick job." Master says.

"Yes the client felt that everything was fine after I took down the monster. I told him to contact me if he needed anything else though." I reply and he nods.

"Hey Erza." Mira and Lucy say.

"Hey, so um what's up with Natsu and Gray? They're acting oddly... close?" I ask and Lucy gasps.

"Omg no way! Those two!?" She exclaims.

"Those two what?" I ask and she just pulls me to their booth.

Natsu's POV:

Lucy walks over with Erza in tow and sets down across from Gray and I.

"Spill." She says and I nod. "Well, as you can tell, Gray chose me to be his mate because he is a Dominant and I'm a submissive. Given this entail apparently we have to spend the rest of our lives together because of Mating Season." I answer and her jaw drops. She points a finger and moves it between us.

Then she jumps up and starts squealing. After a few moments of her jumping around she grasps my arm and pulls me out of Gray's grasp into a bone crushing hug. I try to stop her incase it angers him but she doesn't listen.

Erza laughs at Lucy but when I see Gray's face I instantly regret ever saying anything. He stands and towers over the both of us. "Mine." He whispers but she doesn't hear. "Mine." He says again, still nothing.

"Lucy.... let go of him... now!" He growls, his red eyes almost glowing. She stops and looks at him. His bangs cover his eyes casting a shadow over them. "S-sorry Gray..." She whimpers and lets go of me and runs away, hiding behind Erza, who is laughing quietly to herself.

I look up at the taller male, who is still frowning. I slowly hug him and he relaxes. "Gray, are you okay?" I ask and he nods. Sitting us back in our original position, I am pulled into his chest. He hugs my waist and his eyes stay red.

Lucy squeals and explains Mating Season to Erza. I just sit there, helpless in my rivals arms.
