"Three"

A poem I wrote when I thought I was going to have a child... Rather embarassing, BUT I did get a good poem out of it:

Posting my pessimism,

My soul a lonely prism.

But two hearts combined,

Is the best we can find.

When three are together,

We're as light as a feather.

The importance of you,

In everything that you do.

You make it possible,

Yet we see a course of obstacles.

We've been through so much,

Glad we're not out of touch.

Glad we could heal,

From recent ordeals.

Glad we could find,

Another connecting mind.

Glad we aren't wild,

Glad you'll have my child.

I am full of emotion,

High tide in my mind's ocean.

I am happy and scared,

The future's teeth are bared.

I am excited yet doubtful,

It's a giant mouthful.

But I can't think of those,

My mind begins to doze.

And when I close my eyes,

My lungs let loose a sigh.

Because there you are,

In my dreams so far,

Like a shooting star.

So bright and shiny,

And in your arms so tiny,

Lies a child so meek.

I could cry for a week,

And my joy would remain.

Maybe life isn't so bleak,

And it's not all just pain.

Not with you and he,

And the final piece is me.

Together we are three,

There's nowhere else I'd rather be.
