"Westward"(lovers part 1)

Part one of what I like to call the lovers' trilogy. A collection of three poems that follow two lovers from one life to the next, feeling how awesome and powerful their love is to transcend death itself. The love they have, however, is doomed to tragedy...

His life was westward bound,

To the end of the continent.

Another purpose, he'd found.

In the east, he couldn't pay his rent.

He set off on the trail,

With hundreds of others.

They knew many would fail,

And they'd lose fathers, mothers, sisters and brothers.

They lost half their numbers,

Before they got to the coast.

They fought nature's wrath of thunder,

But none of them would boast.

On their journey, the man fell in love.

She was a pale and vicious beauty,

Thought she'd come from above.

They loved each other truly.

When they reached the golden land,

That lie in the west,

They started a band,

A true family crest.

They lived in comfort,

Off of the fruits of the land.

How hard they had worked,

To give their neighbors a hand.

They were kind and alert,

Did not care to hurt another.

But even peaceful people get hurt,

By foul men that would smother.

One day a group of harriers,

Rode to their abode.

The farmer had no barriers,

And gave a hand to hold.

He did not see an issue,

In helping out these men.

But the theives and their crew,

Had a lesson to lend.

They came and took his family,

And beat him to a pulp.

They burned down his farm handily,

And sent a message to the folk.

But the mistake that they made,

They didn't kill the humble man.

And their lives he would trade,

To once again see his clan.

He hunted the north,

And searched the south.

Didn't hesitate to go forth,

In pain, he'd scream and shout.

He found the bandits,

In a village to the east.

This wasn't how they'd planned it,
