Even Leaders Cry Sometimes

I became entranced by the show that was airing on Leonardo's television. I can't even remember what it's called, but the flashing lights and cliche adventures had caught me in its nest. Leonardo looked at me and smiled.

"You like?"

His demeanor changed completely. He went from strong and stoic, to childish and curious. He had the biggest grin on his face that normally would make me smile... but it wasn't fazing me.

"It's ok."

He stood up and did a little victory dance. I cocked an eyebrow at him. He was giggling like a little child.

"I told Raph Space Heroes isn't stupid!"

Is that what it's called? I looked at him with a confused look but decided not to ask. It's obviously not as important as my mission. I began to stand up and hold my wound. Leo's fun expression turned back to what it was before the show aired. Strong, stoic, unchanging. He offered me an arm. I shook my head.

"You need to take it easy."

I hissed. And shook my head again and began to walk away. I had a limp due to my injuries on my leg. I got burned down to the bone on that leg. Purple had to stitch me up. I coughed a little which really hurt too. I sat back down and held my large cut. Tears began to well up. I'm so... so-

"You need something? Water? More pizza? Sleep?"

Water and sleep. That sounds so good right now. A tall glass of water and a long nap sounds like heaven. I nodded.

"Water... sleep."

I began to feel my eyelids shut. Leo got up and offered me a friendly hand. I looked up at him and his hand. I could almost see my sisters in my pure exhaustion. I put my hand in his. My tired mind began thinking as if it was on... substances.

His hand is so comforting. He acts like he's actually my friend... like he really cares

I shook my thoughts away. It's only pity. Thinking like that made me irritated. He brought me out into his kitchen. It was cozy and warm due to someone cooking.

"So what do ya say?"

I looked up. I spaced out and I guess Leo asked me a question. I looked at him and sighed.

"I wasn't listening. Sorry."

He smiled and pat my shoulder. I winced and he pulled his hand away. He touched one of my more severe burn wounds. He put his hands forward.

"May I?"

I pulled my shoulder strap down a little bit so he could see my wound. He pat the counter. I jumped onto it and sat down. I was now just as tall as Leonardo. He took a wash cloth and put it into some cold water. He also took what looked like an alcohol swab, which I so dearly hoped it wasn't. He took the small wipe and looked at me.

"This is going to burn so... brace yourself."

He placed the alcohol swab on my shoulder, I whimpered and clenched my teeth together as he gently rubbed the pad against my wound. He winced too. I looked down, I was clenching his free hand so hard it had turned a pale green. I quickly shot my hand up and looked away from him.

"You can hold it if that helps."

I shook my head. He put the cool wash cloth against my wound. I sighed, the cold cloth was sweet relief to my burning flesh. He gently wiped away the burning sensation. He put a bandage over the top of my wound and pulled my strap up.

"Why?" He looked at me in confusion. "Why are you so nice to me? I've been nothing but rude Leonardo. Plus you don't know me."

He looked up, then down, then sideways. I learned that this was his thinking face. He took a deep breath as if to brace himself for what he was about to say.
