ΩHiccup's POVΩ

"IDIOT!" Screeched an all to familiar voice.

"Oohhh dear..." I mutter. Leo came over and patted me on the back, while giving me is 'good luck' grin. gods, this guy can be really unsupportive.

I swung my bag over my shoulder and exited the Hephaestus cabin. instead of walking out into a free, arms length comfort area... I ended up slamming into Merida. and to make matters worse I fell down on top of her, causing us to fall down the cabin steps.

"IDIOT!" She yelled again.

"Sorry, sorry." I grumble and roll off of her. "what's the problem?"

Merida hopped to her feet and wiped off the dirt from her jeans. "you got the map wrong, baka!"

"Baka?"

"It's Japanese for idiot."

I raised an eyebrow at her. "how do you know Japanese?"

She stared at me blankly for a moment, which kind of made me uncomfortable. "Hiro taught me."

Of course, I thought to myself.

"Anyway..." she grunted and grabbed my arm, a little to tight, and led me away from the more crowded areas of camp. "I was looking at this map you sent me last night and I don't get any of it..."

Merida began to shuffle through her bag for the map, but was then disrupted by a girl with blonde hair, green eyes, and armor from head to foot.

"Rapunzel..." Merida growled. "I was in the middle of something."

"Yeah yeah yeah that can wait. have any of you seen jack?" she said with a bored tone.

Merida and I shook our heads, not really thinking about him in the first place.

Rapunzel rolled her eyes. "honestly. he's the leader of this quest, how could you forget him?"

I looked away awkwardly. luckily for me, Merida broke the silence. for a mean, annoying, brat... she can be my favorite person in the world.

"Well the old man is new to camp halfblood, he might've bailed." she said in a low tone. jack would've flipped on the 'old man' nickname.

We all looked at each other before giving a loud, long groan. "lets find out then?" I suggested, and they grudgingly agreed.

Ω Jack's POV Ω

"Quest? what was I thinking? this means I could literally die... right there, right here. just like that." I whispered quickly to myself as a paced back and forth. "I almost died yesterday... and to think of it, I don't know how to use any weapon unlike everyone else."

I paused and looked out the window. people were practicing archery, sword fighting... there was even a slingshot section.

Everyone seemed so talented with actual weapons when I'd be most likely paired with a stick.

With a sigh, I sling my back pack over my shoulder. I might as well meet everyone else... except my death. the prophecy foretold someone's death, it was probably me.

And besides, I stayed stuck inside my new cabin for a couple hours, refusing to go out. rapunzel, hiccup, and Merida were probably coming to check on me right now. by this point, I had no choice.

Right before I made it to the door, I tripped over something. fortunately, I caught my balance and turned to curse at the non-living object. but words never came out of my mouth when I saw the item.

In front of me was a stick. I guess my stick joke was taken literally.

Staff, jack... not a stick.

"A staff?" I raise my eyebrows and crouch in front of it. "that at least makes it sound cooler."

Go ahead. pick it up.

"Alright..." I hesitantly reach my shaky hand to touch the wooden staff, but right when my hand clutched around it, frost started to spread along it's long surface. "oh great, I broke it!"

What? no no no. you didn't.

"Oh... okay." I sighed in relief and stood up. "what does it do?"

Extends your powers.

For some reason I've grown a weird comfort to this voice, it just sounds... familiar... a feminine voice... is my brain a girl or something?

Give it a wave.

I nodded and swung the staff upwards, careful not to do it to wildly. in it's trail, left a formation of a snow cloud that dropped snow lightly to the cabin floor. in a minute, the cloud disappeared.

In combat, it's power will increase.

"Cool." I chuckle and spin the staff between my fingers.

Now say, ki̱demónas.

"What does that mean?"

Guardian... just say it.

I grumble and say the word slowly. "ki̱demónas."

Immediately, the staff shrank and morphed into a necklace... and I have no idea how. "wow... is there anything else I should know?"

No answer.

I stood there for a moment staring at the odd jewelry. it's was a leather string with a miniature version of the staff hanging onto it. just by looking at it, I could tell the leather and the wood were connected.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door and I quickly put on the necklace, adjusted my back pack and opened the door to see my three new comrades.

"Are you ok? you were taking forever." rapunzel asked softly.

"Hm?" I look at her. "oh yeah, I'm fine. sorry."

She gave me a curious look before shrugging. "whatever. just come on."

Everyone turned and started walking while I hurriedly closed the door behind me. I glance at my necklace before joining them.

"Guardian..." I mumbled under my breath and clutched the small staff.

A/N

Sorry for the small absents. summer started and with that, I'm lazy. Summer started weeks... or months ago by the way. I tend to get REALLY lazy, because I'm lazy already.

And I was too lazy to proof read.
