"What's got you so annoyed?"
"Nothing." Jeongguk muttered in response as he handed his foster sister her change not missing how she rolled her eyes at him. "I'm fine."
"You don't seem fine. Which is weird since this is as empty as I've ever seen this cafe before and there's even protagonists here!" She said smiling as she leaned towards him. "You need to tell me things like this! I'll make sure to come here with my friends now too!"
Jeongguk couldn't help but groan as he glanced towards the booth in the back noticing that the protagonists were still looking at him. Only Yoongi, Hoseok, and Namjoon happened to be there but that still didn't make things better for the younger. Earlier he had to deal with Taehyung and Jimin talking to him in art and when he went to English next hour he couldn't help but notice how Namjoon seemed to especially check on his work out of everybody. And now he was stuck with three of them watching him work?
Why did they suddenly get an interest in him? He would internally panic at points thinking that his hair had turned blue but nobody else seemed to be paying any attention to him so he just brushed it off.
The only plausible thing he could think of that involved him with a protagonist was the silver haired guy who had seen how his roots were turning back blue, but surely that had nothing to do with the current situation. Not all protagonists knew each other so he shouldn't try to go to an extent and blame it on that but he still couldn't help but feel scared if something was going to happen from him bumping into that silver-haired protagonist.
But other than that one occurrence with the silver-haired man Jeongguk had no leads on why the protagonists were paying attention to him and that made him uneasy.
"Hey, when's your break?" Jihyo questioned as she pulled out her phone and Jeongguk got to work on making her coffee. "Mom wants to know if you'll be home for dinner."
"I think I'll be back around ten? I'm stuck working by myself until Kibum hyung shows up."
"You're working by yourself? I thought someone else was just taking a break right now." She muttered as she frowned at her brother and crossed her arms. "That's really unfair, you haven't even worked here for an entire week! Why are you expected to be able to know how to handle a cafe by yourself?"
"I know most of the recipes, thanks to when I came in to work on the weekend, so I'm pretty confident I can handle the store by myself."
"You're sixteen."
"And in the same grade as you, you should think about studying more." Jeongguk said as his sister laughed and he handed her the coffee she ordered. "Check your priorities before you discuss mine."
"I'm just looking out for you, bro." She said sighing as she grabbed her drink. "I'll tell mom you're hanging out with friends so she won't get too angry with your job situation and make you quit."
"Thanks, I owe you one!"
Jeongguk simply sighed as he went back to cleaning the area waiting for a new customer to enter the establishment. Suddenly he began to hear scoffing and he looked up to see an old man sitting in a booth holding up his cup.
"Waiter! I'd like some assistance!"
Jeongguk frowned as he looked around realizing that the man was talking to him. There weren't waiters offered at the cafe but the boy simply looked around deciding that it would make things more awkward if he didn't go and help the man. Surely leaving the counter for a few seconds wouldn't be the end of the world, it wasn't his fault he got stuck working a shift alone.
"Hello sir!" Jeongguk greeted a smile on his face while the man just seemed to glare at him. "What do you need assistance with?"
"You were the rascal that made this coffee, right? Did you even try it? It's disgusting!"
"My apologizes, sir." He muttered panicking about what to do in this situation, he never had been told how to calm an irrational angry customer. Luckily only the protagonists and a couple were in the cafe but Jeongguk couldn't help but feel embarrassed at how the older man was yelling at him. "I just started working a couple days ago-"
"I don't want an apology I want some better coffee!"
"Well I can go and make you a fresh-"
"Not from you! All you do is make mistakes!" The man yelled standing up causing Jeongguk to slightly back up a bit. He heard the bell to the door ring and he looked expecting to see Kibum hyung walking in to work but it was just the couple leaving the cafe. Jeongguk couldn't help but frown noticing how they decided to just leave the scene instead of helping him. "You didn't come over when I needed assistance immediately and you can't even make coffee right!"
Before Jeongguk could do anything else he felt the hot liquid fall onto his arm and he jumped backwards falling to the ground noting the coffee that seemed to be dripping off of him. He yelped as he squeezed his eyes shut trying to ignore the burning sensation as he was thinking of what to do in this situation.
"We don't need behavior like that in this cafe." A voice said and Jeongguk opened his eyes to see Namjoon talking to the older man. "So I kindly would like to ask you to leave."
"Oh, I'm so sorry! I had no idea that this boys incompetence would cause a scene in front of protagonists-"
"We're asking you to leave sir." Another voice said but Jeongguk was too busy being distracted by Hoseok helping him up and smiling. "You're the problem here."
