Jeongguk was tired

Jeongguk was tired. He had stayed at the cafe until 1 am, since he had to help clean, and when he returned he had received a lecture from his foster parents. He explained how he really wanted this job and that he'd make sure to inform them of his schedule in advance from then on and he wouldn't overwork himself.

Of course after that he had to start working on his homework and as soon as he had finished his alarm to wake up for school had gone off. He had stayed up for nights on end before but the cafe job was just more tiring than the convenience store he worked at back in Icheon. Everything was much more fast paced here and Jeongguk felt terrible that he already was struggling.

But he had been able to hand in his homework and that's all he really was currently worried about.

He was doing good throughout the day but by fourth hour he really was beginning to feel tired. His eyelids were starting to droop with every word the teacher said and he couldn't seem to get a grip on his pencil to properly write the notes down. He didn't want to be the student that fell asleep in class but he was losing his battle to stay awake.

"Mrs.Lee?" Jeongguk said as he raised his hand noting how she had taken a break from writing on the board. "May I go to the nurse's office? I don't feel so good."

"Of course, Jeon. Just try not to make this a common occurrence." She replied knowing some students used the nurse's office as an excuse to leave class. Jeongguk's pale skin seemed to contrast her suspicions so she had agreed for him to leave instead of questioning him further. "Hope you feel better soon."

He simply nodded as he grabbed his stuff and started heading down the hallway that he was slowly becoming familiar with. As he made his way to the nurse's office his head seemed to only get heavier and he pulled on the doorknob to groan as it was locked.

He looked up to see a sign stating that the nurse was gone, due to it being her lunch break, and he could only frown trying to think of what he could do. Going back to class would seem suspicious and if he went home there was a chance his foster parents would be there and refuse to let him go to school tomorrow since he was feeling so unwell.

His work schedule was still a bit unclear to him so he wasn't sure if he had a shift tonight and if he went home his parents would definitely refuse to let him go to work.

And what if they made him quit his job since he already was exhausted from it? Jeongguk couldn't have that, he needed to be able to afford hair dye. Being constantly exhausted and overworked may seem bad but he considered it a blessing compared to living like a protagonist.

Suddenly his mind seemed to wander to the roof wondering if it was open. Surely it was, right? After all, the protagonists ate lunch there every day so it had to be opened. And he wouldn't have to worry about anyone else being up there since they probably would be afraid of messing with the protagonists and what fate had planned for them to make their lives main character worthy.

He ended up easily finding the stairs and was happy to see that the door was unlocked, the refreshing outside air soothing him. He walked towards the fence noting how the entire courtyard could be seen from up here and couldn't help but chuckle.

"Of course main characters would eat their lunch up here, it's beautiful." He muttered as he stretched and decided to lay down the sun basking his features. He let his hands run through his black hair and couldn't help but smile. "But I don't have to deal with that as long as you stay under control."

Jeongguk slowly let himself fall asleep as his headache drifted away and he reassured himself that he'd wake up before lunch and continue his day.
