Yoongi used to have a lot of friends when living back in Daegu. Back before he realized what the color of his hair meant and what others viewed it as.
People in smaller towns generally had few protagonists so while growing up he was used to everyone being especially friendly towards him. People would say hi and always want to hang out and he felt genuinely happy with his life.
Until he realized the only reason people were hanging out with him was because he was a protagonist.
He heard them talking about wanting to be part of his story and hoping they'd get a major side character role. It made him feel disgusted and the next day he went to school he shut down. He didn't talk to anyone, not bothering to let them interfere with his life. He wasn't going to let them play a major role in his story so he ignored them and put up a rude front to keep everyone away.
His parents noticed this and decided that moving would be the best bet. Yoongi didn't put up a fuss with moving, after all, what would be the point? He didn't really see a reason to stay or go anywhere. So, before the start of his freshman year, his parents took him to a bigger city hoping it would help him feel more like he belonged.
Moving to Seoul was a big change for him and allowed him to see how people reacted to protagonists differently. There were very few people who tried to be his friend, as most bigger cities taught normal people to avoid protagonists for safety reasons. Yoongi was a bit confused, due to it being the complete opposite in Daegu, but it did make sense. Protagonist's lives were unpredictable and it was understandable to want to avoid that.
There were still some who wanted to try and be friends, seeing glamor in being part of a story instead of horror, but Yoongi didn't bother with them. He just ignored everyone like he had in Daegu and began to accustom himself with the other types of views on protagonists; ignoring, idolizing, and hating.
Yoongi's favorite were the people who chose to flat out ignore him. They didn't mess with his life and weren't a hindrance. The people who idolized him were a bit, well, creepy. He was grateful that they didn't talk and try to be friends with him but the following and constant photos were a bit uncomfortable.
But he did manage to get lucky that very few people acted like that in big cities, much like there being few who tried to be friends with protagonists. In smaller cities there appeared to be more who stalked main characters and took photos of them, due to them being unaccustomed to seeing people with oddly colored hair. Looking back on it Yoongi figured that people in Daegu were starting to turn to creepy idolizing behaviors just to be part of his story.
Yoongi felt infinitely grateful for his parents' decision to move.
Hatred was an emotion he had yet to deal with. Of course, he knew about people becoming antagonists but he was lucky to never meet someone like that before. Antagonists were ruthless people who made it their life goal to try and ruin a protagonist's life. People generally viewed antagonists poorly but they never actively tried to stop them from being rude.
