Jin didn't know what to expect when he received an unknown number.
Everyone who ever called him had their own listed contacts and it was very rare for him to receive spam calls. But who was he to deny a call? Even if it was just spam it was comforting hearing a normal person talk to him without acting differently due to his hair color.
"Hello?"
Jin tapped his fingers as the seconds ticked by with no response. Had his number been called by mistake? Was there even anyone else on the other line?
"Uhm, Jin-ssi?"
Time froze as Jin took a deep breath immediately knowing who the voice on the other end of the line was. He had given Jeongguk his number the last time they met hoping he'd call but he hadn't expected him to, much less this soon.
"Yeah, Jeongguk what's up?" The older desperately didn't want to ward the hidden protagonist with questions but he couldn't help but feel worried. Jeongguk seemed very stubborn about staying away from protagonists so something serious must have happened for him to call. "Are you okay?"
He felt on edge waiting to hear a response.
"Yeah 'm my head just really hurts, things are really dizzy."
"Where are you at?" Jin replied as he already had gotten up going to leave his apartment. He didn't like how out of it the younger sounded. "Are your friends with you?"
"Uh, some alley? Didn't check where it was too busy- ow." The sound of shuffling was heard on the other line and Jin held his breath waiting for the younger to continue. "Some people took my wallet and punched me."
Grimacing the silver-haired man couldn't help but curse under his breath. He didn't like the thought of Jeongguk being hurt and alone in some alley, he needed to go and make sure he was safe.
Protagonist, protagonist, protagonist, the word kept going through his head. It would make sense, something as horrible as this was completely normal for protagonists. And Hoseok had even previously mentioned he thought Jeongguk got taken advantage of by customers at the cafe. Things were pointing towards Jeongguk having a harsh story which would explain why he chose to dye his hair black. But Jin didn't want to assume, and he definitely didn't want to think about the younger having to deal with things like this on a daily basis.
"Okay, can you share your location with me?" The sun was starting to set and it was making Jin more worried. Staying in an alley late at night wouldn't have anything good come from it. "Is there a public place you could maybe walk to?"
"Mhmm no, my hair s'blue."
"Okay just stay on the phone with me then, okay?" He could hear a hum of confirmation as his phone dinged showing him Jeongguk sent his location. Luckily it was only a couple minutes away from his apartment so the younger wouldn't be alone for long. The major issue right now was keeping Jeongguk awake and conscious so the older continued trying to keep up the conversation. "How about school? How has school been for you?"
"School is, uhm, school s'fine. I have friends so school's lot better now."
"That's good! And all your classes are going fine?"
"Mhmm, haven't made any friends in classes though, Yugyeom and Bambam are only sophomores."
"Oh?" Jin replied as he made a turn nearing the location. He already knew that Jeongguk was a junior at just 16 thanks to his boyfriends but hearing he didn't have any friends in his actual classes was new. He had assumed he had made other friends than just the two he ate lunch with. "Has anybody from your classes tried to talk to you?"
"Only people I can't talk to."
Jin had managed to park his car and get out right when the younger had said that. What was that supposed to mean? He huffed as he looked around the dark street and glanced through the alleys.
"People you can't talk to? Jungkook, what does that mean?"
The younger simply hummed in response the pain in his head starting to get worse. He just wanted to sleep even if it was uncomfortable on the concrete floor.
"Jungkook? Hey, are you still there?"
The silver-haired man grew more panicked and began to rush down a different alley and took a sharp intake of breath. Jeongguk laid there unconscious while blood seeped out of the back of his head.
"Hey, Jeongguk!" Jin said as he rushed over ending the phone call. The youngers pulse seemed to be fine but it was evident he had hit his head hard on the brick wall behind him. He sighed as he picked the younger up adjusting so his face would be hidden in his chest in case anyone managed to see them walking out. "Come on, Kookie, let's get you out of here."

School starts in two days for me and I'm really really nervous about it. I'm going to college now and this is the first time that I'll ever be in a class where I don't know anybody and I'm really bad at talking to people. I'm just going to hope for the best and try to stay positive. What about you guys, do you start school anytime soon or have you already finished?
