~Josephine's POV
"Wait...wait...wait....a talent manager went to your house to take you as an actress?" I told Jen in my calmest voice possible. Earlier this morning, she texted me to text her if I have nothing else to do. She called me seconds after I texted, then she told me to go somewhere where I'm alone and just be calm (as in no shouting-stuff-you-just-heard-on-the-phone). Now, she's telling me that she was about to be an actress, I don't know what else to say. I'm so proud of her.
"Well, yes, but I told them to come back another year. I want to enjoy my high school life as much as possible." She tells me as I put my phone closer to my ear.
"Jen...Congratulations! I'm so proud of you, girl! You've always wanted this and now it's just going to be with you at the end of the school year!" I tell her happily.
"Thank you." She told me in a different-than-happy tone.
"Why do you seem sad?" I tell her in a concerned tone.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, you sound sad, and I smell something fishy."
"You had fish for breakfast?"
"Stop kidding, Jen. I'm serious. Why are you not happy that you'll be an artist when we finish this year?"
She didn't answer me. I wondered at first, but then I got it afterwards.
"Oh.....are you afraid that you'll lose Josh?"
She didn't answer again, even though I can hear her breathing on the other line. Suddenly, I can hear her whimpering, then she sniffles. Well, of course she's crying.
"I'll be right over." I tell her straightly before ending the call. I immediately changed clothes and went outside my bedroom. Being in a total rush, I accidentally hit Josh with the door.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry!" I tell him as I saw him holding his forehead while sitting at the ground. I went to his level and touched his forehead.
"Don't touch it!" He sweeps my hand away from his face. I then went up and gave him a hand so he could stand up.
"Why are you such in a hurry on a saturday?" He asks me as he stood up with his hand still on his forehead.
"It's Scott. He had an emergency. I need to be with him." I had to lie. There's no way I could tell him about my talk with Jen. I immediately ran towards the stairs when he blocked my way with his free arm.
"Are you sure that you're fine alone? I can take you there." He tells me. I think he knows that I'm lying, so I had to act my way to get out of there.
"Look, Josh, these are one of the moments where I need to be alone. Scott needs me. I love him. Please. Let me do this. Alone." I begged him.
"Alright. Are you going to use your motorcycle?"
"Yeah, why?"
He looks at the ceiling then looks down guiltily. "I might have taken her off for a spin..."
Angrily, I took my hand out. He then placed my keys on my hand, then I went away.
As soon as I got to Jennifer's house, I ran towards the door and knocked on it. She opened the door, and pulled me inside. We both went to her bedroom then she locked the door, shut the blinds, and asked me to sit on her bed. She grabbed a chair and sat in front of me.
"Are you all alone?" She asked me as if she were a criminal who's afraid to be arrested.
"Yeah, why are you asking?" She didn't answer me.
