Friends and Doughnuts

I walked to school like any other day. Hope's Peak High School to be exact. The best of the best go here. They could be the best at a sport, an art, or a personality trait. I was the Ultimate Bookworm. I didn't quite understand why they accepted me just because I liked to read. Oh well, I guess those old book reports were good for something after all.

I got to my locker and piled my books inside. The books in my locker might as well be Jenga blocks as they always looked like they would fall over at any moment. I gathered the books for my first class and carefully shut my locker. On my way to class, I saw two of my friends, Asahina and Ogami. They were talking to each other near their lockers. I ran over to them.

"Hi guys!" I greeted in my usual upbeat tone.

"Good morning Kate" Ogami replied with a smile.

"Oh! I almost forgot about you!" Asahina said as she reopened her locker to reveal a white box inside. "I bought all of my friends doughnuts!" She opened the box unveiling a single chocolate glazed doughnut. "I'm sorry Kate, I shouldn't have forgotten you."

I consumed the doughnut at what seemed to me as supersonic speed, but no one could beat Asahina's record doughnut eating time. I wiped the crumbs off my face. "Thank you! And it's alright." I checked my watch. "I'm gonna be late! I'll see you guys later!" 

I ran to my first class, math. I sat in my seat next to Chihiro Fujisaki.

"H-Hi Kate." Fujisaki said.

I was surprised. Sure, I considered Fujisaki my friend. But she was always kind of shy.

I smiled warmly. "Hi Fujisaki! How are you?"

"I'm f-fine." She replied, looking down at her desk.

I was about to ask her what was wrong when our teacher started another boring lecture.
