Not Just Alcohol

Asahina screamed bloody murder and, at first, she thought that was exactly what she was looking at. 

Gundham was lying on the pavement, bleeding heavily.

Others heard her scream and rushed outside.

"Is he dead?!" Fuyuhiko's sister asked.

Mikan walked over to Gundham and checked his pulse. "H-He's still b-breathing but I think one h-his wounds is h-head trauma."

"Uh, guys," Kazuichi spoke up. "Where's Kate? I saw her walking out with him!" 

"Yeah," Chiaki agreed. "She did look sort of sleepy when she left." Suddenly, Gundham slowly sat up. "Someone...hit me at I..." He was breathing hard, almost gasping for air.

"D-Don't try to recover s-so quickly!" Mikan tried to urge.

Asahina ignored Mikan's medical knowledge and ran up to Gundham. "Where's Kate? Is she hiding somewhere?"

He hung his head. "I am sorry...a figure in black, a male mortal to be exact, took her away..."

"So we're going to have to fight some son of a bitch, huh?" Fuyuhiko commented, putting a comforting arm around his startled sister.

"Yeah, you guys go do that," Kazuichi said. "I'm not going after the human version of Pennywise!"

The group tried to ignore Kazuichi's insensitive statement as they huddled together to hatch a plan.

"Gundham, can you Devas track a sent?" Chiaki asked. "They were with her for quite a while."

As if they could understand human language, the Devas came from Gundham's side, pushing a small, tattered green cloth. They uttered mournful squeaks as they stopped pushing the cloth and pointed their noses west. 

"Then we better get going!" Fuyuhiko's sister exclaimed. 

With Mikan and Chiaki aiding as crutches to Gundham, the group raced behind the Devas. How far west was their friend and what could motive could the kidnapper have for such an assault?
