After taking more photos, both of us slipping and falling on our bums, and finding a river on the other end of the railroad tracks, Liam and I decided it was time to be adventurous elsewhere.
"There's still the mall option," I remind Liam as we came to a stop light. He turned to me with an expression that told me we wouldn't be going anywhere near a mall.
"I mean..who needs malls anyways?" I say, over-enthusiastically. He chuckles, turning back to face the road, which relieved me. I didn't like it when people kept their attention away from the road for too long.
I heard a buzzing noise come from below me, so I dug around in my backpack until my fingers laced around my phone and brought it from the depths of the bag.
"What more do you even have in that thing?" Liam asks, taking his eyes off the road, just for a split second to glance at my bag.
"Do you want me to just tell you what I keep in it?" I sigh, tapping send on my phone to reply to Niall's message.
"Sure," he agrees and I lean back, getting comfortable to list off the many things I have stored away.
"A pencil, a pen, a small note book, a reading book, my phone, earphones, anx-" I stopped and swallowed my words. I thought about what Liam might say if I told him a kept anxiety pills with me, and decided against it. "My camera, a cardigan, red spray paint, gum, a phone charger, my wallet, house keys, and like two toiletries for 'just in case'."
"How does all of that fit in there?"
"It's a roomy bag," I shrug and lean forward to dig in it again. I pulled out the pack of gum and unwrapped the thin foil from it before holding it out for him. "I bet no girl could fit that much in her dainty little purse."
He took it with a smile and shoved it in his mouth, so I did the same with my own. I stared out the window and smiled to myself. Today has been one of the best days of my life.
"You know what we should do?" Liam asked out loud, thankfully keeping his eyes fixed in front of him.
"Hm?" I mumble as I read the text from Niall. I replied quickly, just as Liam began speaking.
"Before we do anything else, we should go back to Burger King and the park and take photos there as well. You know, like a little reminder of how exciting this day has been."
"Agreed." I drug my camera out again and sat up straight, tucking my legs beneath my body as I had earlier that morning.
I heard Liam chuckle lightly to himself, but I didn't pay any mind to it. "Oh, there's Burger King," I press my finger up against the window, showing Liam where to go.
We parked in the nearest parking space and left the car running. "It shouldn't take long," Liam had promised.
"Okay, so..selfie in front of the sign?" I offer, pointing above me at the massive 'Burger King' billboard-like logo.
"Sounds alright to me," he says, displaying a lop-sided grin. He stood behind me and put his face next to mine, his chin almost in the crook of my neck. I held the camera up and snapped the photo, hoping the sign was in the background.
"I really hope no one saw us do that," I laugh as the polaroid appeared from inside the camera. I shook it until the photo could be seen and held it up for Liam's inspection. It was perfect, in my opinion.
"Looks-"
"You two! You did this to my hair!" we hear from behind us and whip out heads around to see tomato-head lady marching towards us, not looking very happy.
