"See those?" I pointed up at the sky, aiming my finger as close to the row of stars as I could. "That's Orion's Belt. The stars that make it up are Alnitak, Alnilam, and Mintaka."
"Alni what?"
"Nevermind," I giggled and snuggled closer to Liam, wrapping my arm around his waist. We had been lying in our backyard watching the stars for the last hour, discussing anything that came to mind and I couldn't be happier anywhere else.
"I love you so much," he said softly, rubbing his thumb over the back of my hand ever so slightly.
"Clearly," I laughed, replaying his proposal in my head, which was the best and worst thing. The best thing, because I loved Liam more than anything and spending the rest of my life with him sounded like heaven on earth.
And it was the worst thing, because the whole thing at the time was just extremely awkward. "I still can't believe I tripped and spilled soda all over you," Liam chuckled through a sigh.
"I don't even know how you managed to do that," I giggled and shifted my weight so I was laying on my stomach and facing him.
"You helped make it weird too, you know," he smirked and poked my rib, causing me to flinch. "I never expected that I'd propose to the love of my life with an All Time Low bracelet that only costed 4 pounds."
"I don't like jewelry, I'm sorry," I shook my head and laughed. "But look at this way; you saved tons of money and I never take the bracelet off."
"You really are something else," he chuckled and sat up straight, arching his back to crack his muscles.
"Liam?" I scooted closer to him and hugged his torso, resting my head on his shoulder and staring up at the sky. "Can I ask you a serious question?"
"Ask me anything you'd like." He reached across and grabbed my left hand, lacing our fingers.
"Why..why me? I mean, of all the girls you could have chosen, why me?"
"I chose you because you aren't like any other girl. You're different. You wear converse and skinny jeans to formal parties. You listen to Nirvana so loud in the car that the other drivers around you get pissed off. Every time you kiss, you kiss like it's gonna be your last. When someone isn't there for you, you're still there for them at 3 in the morning.
"You take jokes too serious and get hurt easily. You lose sleep because you spend half of your time reading books that most people wouldn't ever touch. You drag a back pack around with you everywhere you go instead of a purse. But most of all, you never cease to amaze me with your soft lips, big heart, and tendency to worry or care too much."
"Liam-"
"I'm so fascinated with you and how you do things. I can sit and just watch you do nothing all day and I'd never get bored. I've learned how you hold your cup of tea when drinking it, I know which shoe you take off first, I love how you listen to piano music while you read, and I love hearing you sing and how happy it makes you."
"I've learned the different types of music you listen to, how you fold laundry; trousers first, socks last. You hate using other people's money and always insist on using your own, you absolutely adore children."
"You hate tomatoes but you use ketchup on everything. You think makeup is overrated. Loud arguments and noises stress you out and cause your anxiety to act up. And from you I've learned that even through the most horrible times, there's always someone that's gonna bring you back up again."
He was only about 2 centimeters away from my face now. "You're different from everyone else in the world and I fucking love you."
His lips were pressed against mine before I could say anything. He leaned forwards, pushing me to the ground and straddled my waist. I tried to process everything he had just said to me, but I couldn't take my mind off of how amazing his lips felt.
