"Have you ever been here before today?" Liam and I were walking the streets of Miami, enjoying the cool summer night and the large amount of privacy.
"Once," Liam answered, kicking a rock out of the way of his path. "I didn't get to do much though."
"I love the weather here." I looked up at the clear sky, just barely seeing the stars past the millions of streetlights and lit building windows.
"Yeah, it sure beats rain everyday," Liam scoffed.
We came upon a freeway that was oddly vacant for a big city like this. "C'mon, lets take a left," Liam offered but I shook my head and walked out onto the road. "What are you doing?"
"I've always wanted to do this," I said out loud and laid down in the middle of the freeway, lining my body up with the yellow lines.
"Ashley! What the fuck are you-get out of the road!" Liam shrieked and put his hands on his head in worry. Or maybe it was stress from all of the decisions I make that he doesn't approve of, like this one.
"It's fine, there's no cars around," I laughed and rolled over onto my stomach. I crossed my legs behind me, lifting them in the air and rested my head in my hands, smiling at Liam.
"Remember a few weeks ago when I told you you were intrepid? Well, now I'm wondering if you're just psycho," he called from the sidewalk, to afraid to walk out onto the quiet highway himself.
I grimaced at the word and clenched my fists together, standing up from the road. "Don't call me that," I muttered when I got back to him.
"Don't give me a reason to," he shot back, grinning.
I grabbed his wrist, digging my nails into his skin and stood on my tiptoes to see him at eye level, "Seriously, don't fucking call me that."
"Alright, alright. Sorry," he frowned and I let go of his wrist, nodding curtly. I turned and began walking left like Liam had suggested earlier.
"Can you trim your fingernails, please?" he asked softly. I glanced behind me and watched him rubbing his skin where I had grabbed him.
"No," I shook my head, even though he probably wasn't watching me.
"Are you angry with me?" he caught up to my pace and walked backwards in front of me so he could face me as we talked.
"I'm not angry," I shake my head and stomp on the butt of a cigarette that wasn't properly put out by it's smoker.
"You're kind of acting like it," he comments and held his wrist up to support his point.
"Ledge."
"WhaAH!" he fell backwards onto his bum, tripping over the ledge I had clearly warned him about.
"I warned you," I sighed and held my hand out to help him up.
"I think I'll stay here for a moment," he closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
"There's a bug on your shoulder-"
"Where?" he shouted and jumped up from the ground as if he hadn't just fallen and possibly broken his back and spun around in a circle trying to shake the bug off.
"Here," I laughed and flicked the tiny beetle off of his shirt. I gave him a quick peck on the cheek before stepping back away from his personal space.
"My back hurts," he frowned and bent over backwards, popping his back muscles.
"Hey, I warned you there was a ledge," I shrugged with a smug grin and continued walking past him down the street.
