It was probably a bad idea to not tell Liam I had never ridden a plane before. I was panicking like mad and shaking so much I looked like a human earthquake.
"We aren't even on the plane yet," Liam frowned, crouching down before me and grasping my arms tightly, probably in attempt to stop me from shaking.
"I can't do it," I whispered and spun around on my left heal, heading in the direction of the exit. I speed-walked down the large corridor, keeping my head down and hoping I didn't run into anyone.
"You don't have a choice," Liam interlocked his arm in mine and twirled be back in the direction of the plane, leading me elbow to elbow.
Without giving me a chance to resist, he had me on the plane in no time and was dragging me through the walkway to our seats. "You can have the window seat for a first-time experience," he smiled and pushed me down in the seat, then buckled me in so I couldn't leave.
"Hey, look at me," Liam orders, placing his hand on my right cheek and softly turning my head towards him. "We're gonna be on this plane for nine, almost ten hours. You think you can handle that?"
I shook my head vigorously, staring up at him with wide eyes. There was no way I was going to be able to spend 10 hours on a plane. I'd do absolutely anything to get off right now, but I knew Liam wasn't going to let that happen.
"Can I get you two anything before take-off?" a flight attendant asked from beside us, smiling down at us with one of the most fake smiles I had ever seen.
"Yeah, can we get a water?" Liam asked in his sweet voice that I've realized he uses when he asks for things from people he didn't know. Despite the panic I was in, a small giggle escaped my mouth.
"Oh, you like it when I use that voice, don't you?" Liam asked with an amused grin after the lady left.
"It's funny," I agreed, then swallowed hard when I remembered I was about to be in the air and not on flat ground where a person like me should be. And by 'person like me', I mean a human being.
"How can I calm you down?" Liam sighed and frowned at me, taking my hand and rubbing his thumb over the back of it.
"Talk to me." I thought about the time in McDonalds when hearing his voice calmed my anxiety. Maybe it will work this time as well?
"Okay, I can do that," he nodded his head and turned his body to face me. He held both of my hands as one would a princess and opened his mouth to say something, but before he could say any words the plane began moving and I lost it.
My stomach did a 360 and I gripped Liam's hand with all the strength I had, digging my nails into his skin. If it hurt him, he wasn't letting on. "It's okay, just breathe," he instructed, but it wasn't as helpful as it should have been.
"Yo, is your girl okay, man?" I hear from across the walkway, but I didn't try to match the voice to the face. I needed Liam's voice, not a stranger's. "You should take care of her man, she don't look good."
"I know how to care for my own girlfriend, thank you," Liam muttered then turned back to attend to my still panicking self. "Pay attention to my voice, babe."
"Okay," I oblige breathily and loosen my grip on his hands the slightest bit, knowing in the back of my mind it was probably putting him through pain. He opened his mouth again to speak, but closed it. He didn't know what to say. "Just say random shit, I don't know!"
"Okay, okay, um," he looked around the plane, "Oh! Our first show is on Friday, so we'll have three days to tour and explore and stuff. We're headed to Miami by the way, in case no one told you. I actually might be able to make reservations for us to hangout with 5SOS if you're up for it. Wait, of course you are, you talk about them all the time and never stop listening to their music."
