Y/n quickly tried to get ready, but her hands shook in fear as she dressed. Was this actually what she should be doing? What if a stranger flirts with her? what if she runs into Loki? She tried to calm the racing of her heart or the butterflies in her stomach, but neither seemed to go away. She was so nervous that she tried to use her magic to see what the ball had in store for her, but each time she tried the image grew too fuzzy since she hadn't mastered the skill yet. She pursed her lips in irritation as she starred at her figure in the large golden mirror of Coral's room. The dress looked fabulous on her, but she felt as though it missed something. Then, in the corner of her eye, she caught glimpse of the dazzling golden necklace. Carefully she latched it around her neck and suddenly the outfit worked. Her short hair was curled and her mask was placed on. Her long, black lashes made the entire look all too perfect. Quickly she walked out to see both of her friends ready and waiting. When the couple glanced up, their jaws dropped as they looked at the beautiful girl. Y/n bit her lip nervously, unsure if her friends were admiring her or thinking she looked insane.

"Why do we even bother trying?" Coral mumbled. y/n laughed lightly and nervously before being pulled away by her friends. They walked towards the large castle, earning whoops and hollers from passing by people. y/n could not stop the heat from rushing to her face or the way she bit the inside of her cheek from nervous habit. They now stood waiting for the guards to approve their invitations. y/n recognized one of the men inside the dance room and waved to him. Heimdall smiled slightly and walked over to his sister. The guards let the girls pass and y/n walked to meet her brother half way. He took her hand and escorted her to the edge of the dance floor where she could get a small drink of water. She looked out over the large crowd of people in their crazy masks and made eye contact with a tall gentleman. She quickly averted her eyes and let a flirty smirk grace her lips. Heimdall shook his head mockingly.

" You are truly the worst at flirting." He said his hand taking hers to lead her to the dance floor. She smiled softly, searching the crowd for the tall man once again. She saw him and instantly she felt her heart beat grow.

" I am simply trying to follow the request of my mother." She replied watching as the tall man moved to the edge of the dance floor. Soon, her dance with her brother ended and she moved to stand next to the man. She wasn't a flirty person and was usually shy so she didn't say anything and waited for him to make a move of any sort. She felt him glance at her as she took a sip of the wine. Her gold painted lips left a small mark on the glass.

"Hmm, dances are ever so boring. Wouldn't you agree, madame?" The man said. His voice was smoother then y/n had been prepared for. She let out a small chuckle and glanced around the room. She saw a glimpse of Sif and gave a small wave before turning around and placing her glass on the table.

" A dance is only as boring as the people attending. So, if you are suggesting i am boring , well that's not a way to ask a lady to dance." She replied with a witty smirk. The man raised an eyebrow but let out a small laugh himself. When she looked up and met his eyes, she was met with a mischievous gleam that caused her heart to skip a few. She tucked a strand of her h/c hair behind her ear.

" So, if i asked a beautiful maiden to dance with just reaching out my hand, she would say yes?" He asked, his hand already outreached for the young girl to take. She rolled her eyes but took the mans hand anyways. He lead her to the dance floor and gracefully lead them through a soft dance. y/n was positive that if she held a candle in her hands, it would flicker but not die; exactly how a dance should be. (a/n: anyone who understands that reference is my friend forever). Her heartbeat unsteadily and she felt her stomach twist around as his eyes glanced over her. Little did she know that within the mans stomach, he had winged creatures fluttering around.
