you hadn't seen octavia since you left to go and get raven, which ended up with you going back to space with the others. you told your girlfriend you would be back, but unfortunately you hadn't returned.
but now you were back on the ground and everyone seemed to be reuniting with everyone. you and the rest of spacekru found out clarke was alive, the others went and got everyone from the bunker. but you were with echo, harper and monty, so you hadn't seen octavia yet.
you exited the rover that madi—clarke's child?—drove to the sandy desert. you saw the familiar blonde out in the distance, next to bellamy and the person you had been waiting to see. you saw octavia's eyes ghost over you, confused and scared and happy all at the same time. she didn't really know what to do at first (and you were unaware about everything else that happened) so she waved a little. you smiled to yourself and shook your head, beginning to sprint over there as fast as you could. bellamy had passed you on the way to see echo, and clarke too, to see madi.
when you reached octavia, you sank to your knees, taking her face in your hands, "oc-octavia." you were out of breath. partially from running and partially from the fact that you were finally seeing her again. she wasn't the same though, you saw that right away. she was holding herself differently and her hair was different. everyone wasn't the same.
"baby? you're okay? you're okay, oh my god." she wrapped her arms around your neck, holding you against her chest. you could hear her crying just a bit, so you leaned back and ran the pad of your thumbs just under her eyes.
"i'm okay, i'm here." you whispered, not taking your eyes off her. your chest swelled with joy and another wide smile broke out against your cheeks.
"we couldn't make it back, " you started, trying to explain what had happened, "raven, she said there wouldn't be enough-"
"shh, it's okay. bellamy already told me, you don't need to explain." octavia shushed you and placed a soft kiss to your lips. your eyes fluttered shut and for the first time in six years you felt yourself really let go. you felt happy again, even if you were in the middle of a war for the last survivable land on earth, you were happy just to be back with the girl you were in love with.
