she had lost everything. so had you. everything was gone, your friends, your family. it was just you and clarke now and that scared the shit out of you. only a month ago you guys and the rest of the delinquents were running around, building up a place to live, a place to stay safe. after the mountain men bombed the dropship, and both you and clarke witnessed the crash of another dropship, you felt alone.

clarke was breaking. you could see it on her face, in her eyes. every time you looked at her, you saw her heart break.

"clarke," you attempted to grab her attention. she was staring off into the distant of where you had seen the ship crash. when you guys went to check it out everything was gone, the ship crashed and everyone inside it was gone. abby was gone.

you reached out to her, your hand brushing over the leather material of her jacket. she jerked her body away from you, stepping closer to the hidden shadows of the night. the moon and the low fire were the only existed light in the small camp you two had set up.

"hey, baby, come here." you tried pulling her to you, but she just wandered forward, ignoring you completely. it hurt to see your girlfriend like this, you wanted to help her, to comfort her. but she was stubborn, and she wouldn't break down for anyone. not even you. sighing, you followed her into the trees, taking careful steps in the dark.

"it's dangerous out here," you reminded her, glancing around. she finally stopped, hands clenched down by her sides, her head shaking slightly. when she turned to you, her eyes were glistening and her chest rose up and down at a faster pace.

"hey...hey, come here." she threw herself into your chest, starting to sob as she grasped at your shirt. you held her close to you, rubbing small circles on her back, rocking back and forth.

"i know things are fucked up right now, but things are going to get better." you reassured her. she sniffled, brought her head up and stared at you. her crystal eyes were bloodshot, her hair was a mess, her lips cracked. things weren't real the last few months. it didn't feel real at all, but that was your guys reality.

"when?" she asked, her voice breaking as she looked at you. sighing, you shook your head, still holding her tight against your body.

"i don't know when, but it will. i promise. i love you, okay? i'm not going anywhere." you told her. she nodded and curled back into her chest, hiding her face in the fabric of your shirt, a large wet stain covered your shirt from her tears. placing a kiss to the top of her head, you brought her back to the small fire you created and held her in your arms as the long night went on. it was just the two of you and for now that was good enough.

she was all you needed to stay alive. all you needed to want to stay alive. clarke griffin was enough.
