Marshall woke up and frantically looked around. His room was a complete mess and his bed was even worse. He sat up once again with a pounding headache and assumed he was drinking again last night.
'Again'.
Hopefully this wouldn't become a problem of his.
Marshall looked around a little more... no sign of Gumball. He got up and looked around the house trying to find him and caught him in the kitchen baking. The vampire smirked at his prince and hugged him from behind.
"Morning sweetie," Marshall said as he kissed his prince on the cheek. Gumball smiled and continued baking. Marshall looked at him, wondering why he hasn't said anything yet.
"Bubba? You alright?"
He stayed quiet.
Marshall let go of him to look at him face to face, but Bubba was looking down.
"Sweetie? What's wrong?"
Only now Marshall realized that Gumball was looking down at Marshalls arms. His scar covered, cut marked, rope burned arms. Marshall quickly hid them, regretting that he didn't put on a hoodie before he came downstairs. The last time Bubs saw his scars and cuts was when they saw each other again about 10 years ago. The old scars were still there and hadn't faded at all, but now they're overlapped with more scars.
Gumball just couldn't understand why Marshall would want to hurt himself like that. Sure, James did awful things to him that mentally scarred him, but why bring the pain into reality? Marshall rambled on about how he was sorry he didn't show him earlier and such, but Gumball had zoned out. Thinking about Marshall being in pain made Bubs also want to be in pain so Marshall wouldn't have to suffer. The thoughts consumed him. He didn't want Marshall to be in pain anymore...
"Bubba??" He finally snapped out of it and looked up at Marshall with watery eyes. "You okay..? You kinda zoned out..."
"Did I?"
Marshall nodded to the prince then hugged him. Whatever he was thinking, it wasn't good and was worthy of a loving hug.

The day passed by, nothing really interesting happened. Marshall and Bubs baked some stuff together, Bubba's creations coming out better than Marshall's. They watched a few movies and took a shower then took a small nap. Neither of them thought to make dinner so they just ordered from their favorite pizza place and watched another movie. Since the first movie they watched was Marshalls pick, the second one Bubs picked out; a sappy romantic movie. Marshall fell asleep a little past halfway through the movie when it was 'just getting good'. The two lovers were standing in the rain- very cliché. The girl was yelling something about how he couldn't love her because of her appearance. That she was too ugly, too ruined. The man looked at her seeming a little angry and explained that he didn't care what she looked like because he had fallen in love with who she was as a person. Gumball, who was tearing up at this, looked to Marshall's arms that were 'ruined' by his own self hatred. Surely if the people in the movie could love each other without caring about appearance, then Bubs could too.
A few minutes later Bubs carefully slipped out of Marshalls embrace and went up stairs. He snuck into Marshall's room and reached behind a bookcase to pull out a ring box. It's exterior was soft black silk and it's interior a scarlet velvet. Bubs looked at the black ring with a pale pink band going down the middle. No, he thought. Not tonight. He almost regrettably put the ring box back and went back downstairs to finish the rest of the cheesy movie.

It was once again night time, and once again, Marshall had his prince pinned down on the bed. Making him moan with every thrust he made. Marshall soon slowed down to cover the princes mouth and shushed him. "You'll wake everyone up~ be quiet bubba~" He said as he slowly started to pick up his pace again. Bubba held in his moans as best as he could until they both came and calmed down. Cuddling up to him, Bubba remembered the gift he was gonna give Marshall a few days ago but had been delaying it because of work. Maybe it was still too soon or maybe he wasn't ready for this, but he just had to do it. Marshall sat up and looked at Bubs with a curious expression as he went into a drawer and took something out. He quickly put on a pair of underwear then sat on his legs in front of Marshall, still hiding the object.
"Marshall, I know this might be too soon, but I just need to ask you this. I've known you for a long time now and even through our worst fights and best moments I still loved you. No matter how far apart we were or how mad I was at you, I still loved you. And I still do now. And I'll continue to love you for the rest of my days, if... " Gumball slowly opened the box to show a perfectly polished black ring with a light pink band going down the middle. "...if you'll marry me?" He looked up at Marshall hopefully, but secretly terrified of what he'll say. Marshall sat there in shock but slowly started to crack a smile. Tears quickly came to his eyes as he tackled Bubs and kissed him all over. "Yes!! Of course I will!!" Marshall shouted happily. Bubs let out a sigh of relief and hugged back. Marshall quickly put on the ring and pulled Bubba back onto the bed for some more fun~
