We arrived at Green-Wood Cemetary in the space of a few hours, I strolled over to my old crypt, and examined it, trying to act as if I had never seen it before...I hope he bought it...
I examined the lock on the door, twisting the knob, looking into the keyhole, etcetera, I guess they locked it. "What are you doing?" Asked Kid, who came from the other side of the crypt, examining it just as I had been.
"I think I can pick the lock...unless you have a key?" I raised an eyebrow at him. He shook his head, apparently he 'left it at home.' I turned back to the door. I pulled a pocket knife and a paper clip from my backpack. I bent he paperclip straight and stuck the knife and pick into the lock. I fumbled a bit, getting a feel for the lock, subtly, I used the magical release I had placed on it when I woke, the door creaked open. "After you." I stood back up and bowed sarcastically.
Kid chuckled lightly and strolled through the door, looking around curiously, the candles were all out, so he struck a match to light a few in the dark room. I looked around, god it was wierd to be back here. I searched a few boxes, carefully pocketing anytjing I thought could point to me being the witch, old family photos and things like that. Suddenly we heard a low growl from outside, followed by someone screaming, Kid ran outside, Liz and Patty in hand, and I heard a few gunshots, I dashed outside, taking Brit from my pocket, who turned to BladeDancer. A kishin sat atop the grave of my father, glaring at Kid, who was near a few other graved a couple yards away, the Kishin hadn't noticed me yet. I smirked, Brit whispered, "clear shot" and turned to her sniper rifle. I knelt down, resting my elbow on the pedestal near the crypt. I aimed at the kishin's forehead carefully. I held my breath, steadying my gun. Kid had obviously noticed me aiming, for he didn't move a muscle. The kishin looked confused. It looked around, then back at Kid, eventually its hlare fell on me, I shot, grazing its head. Damn it...
It charged at me, claws bared, Brit turned to BladeDancer just in time for me to block its attack, a few shots rang out and three streams of blinding light passed by, the kishin turned back to Kid, snarling. My chance. I turned Brit to stab the Kishin, but it leapt off of me, headed for Kid, Brit turned to a spear and I charged after the kishin, Kid shot a few more times, grazing my shoulder, I cried out and gripped my left shoulder in pain, it wasn't really hurt, but it stung like a yellowjacket's bite. Kid landed a shot in the kishin's head, and it fell to the ground, screaching. It disappeared into a kishin-egg and Brit returned to human form, examining where Kid's shot hit my arm. She death-glared at Kid, who rushed over to check the wound too. Brit punched him in the arm, same spot where I had been hit, payback I guess. We're lucky it was a weak kishin, or I may have had to release my soul protect, breaking what little cover I had left. We headed home, as it was almost midnight, and we had class the next day. Kid dropped me and Brit off at home and headed back to his mansion. Damned rich kids. He was cute though...SHUT UP SEIKATSU!!!
We got to school the next day and Kid reported what little we found to his father. Surprisingly it took almost all of first period. Lunch time rolled around and Brit and I sat alone as usual, suddenly Kid came and sat at our table with Liz and Patty, I raised an eyebrow at him. Okay who paid you. I thought sarcastically. "Hello, Seikatsu, I was wondering if you'd like to work together for a while. We still have a lot to do if we want to find the witch of Green-Wood." He folded his hands in front of him like some businessman. Why was I not annoyed...
"Sure, for all we know she's right under our noses." I said. Damn it, why did I say that?!
"Yeah....she might be." He stared into my eyes suspiciously. SHIT! HE KNEW DIDNT HE!?
Me and Brit waitrd on ths front steps for Kid after school that day, he had offered to study with us that afternoon as we had a quiz the next day. Although the whole ordeal was pretty much him analyzing everything I did, waiting for some sort of evidence of me being a witch. This was going to be a long week.
We got home and went straight to bed as we had dinner at the mansion that night, Brit told me to be careful before she closed the door to her room. She was right. I woild have to be pretty careful with what's left of my cover. I stayed up all night. I couldn't shake the feeling that my time was almost up at the DWMA. I sighed tiredly as I drifted into a dreamless sleep.
