The Dove

Suspended

I woke in the infirmary again, it was dark out the window, and there was a weight on the bed next to me, but it was too dark to see. I raised my rise hand about a foot off the bed and created a dim magelight. I looked over to my left to see Kid, asleep. The chair was turned to face the bed and his arms were folded around his head, hiding his face, laying next to me. I smiled. Poor Kid, the last few weeks have been tough on both of us. I dozed off again, smiling lightly.

I woke again early the next morning, the clock read 4:36 a.m. and Kid was still asleep where he was last noght. I gently nudged him, "Kid, wake up..." I whispered, no luck. He was sleeping like a rock. Come on, that can't have been comfortable, I nudged him again. "Kid!" I whispered. He jolted awake, looking around confused, and obviously tired, he looked down at me, and smiled, looking relieved. He layed his head back down on the bed, staring at me.

"You're finally awake..." he looked like he was tempted to fall asleep again, seriously, how was that comfortable?

"I could say the same for you. Now what happened?" I asked, looking out the window at the sun rising.

"BlackStar hit you with his soul wavelength, as you know, and you blacked out, I brought you to Nygus as fast as I could and now here you are. That's the simplified version." He sat up a bit and rubbed his eyes, trying to mentally wake up. I sighed, turning back to him, he stretched, and looked out the window, just as I had. "The wound wasn't quite as bad as it was before, so theoretically if all goes well you can be properly on your feet in two days. Until then we're both out of classes."

"Both?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. He chuckled, embarrassed.

"I...got suspended, long story short BlackStar is in the same condition as you, he's at home though." My eyes widened, Kid beat up BlackStar?! He smiled, "I know, now we should get home, technically I shouldn't be here, they wouldn't let me in." SERIOUSLY?! He BROKE INTO the DWMA? Kid?! Breaking rules?! Unthinkable! He picked me up bridal-style and strolled over to the window, summoning his skateboard, 'Beelzebub', and flying us back to the mansion.

He layed me down in bed and kissed my forehead, heading downstairs to make some breakfast. I'm gladd everything is back to normal, mostly, but why was he okay with being suspended?

He got back with a tray with a plate of eggs and bacon, and some orange juice, he set it over my lap and smiled, I blushed lightly, I wish I could have just come downstairs. I didn't want to trouble him.

It was now 9 a.m. and we heard a knock on the door. Kid went to check on it, and I heard the panicked voice of Maka at the door, Soul trying to comfort her. About thirty seconds passed when Maka turned back to Kid. "Kid! Seikatsu's missing! We've looked everywhere, have you seen her?!" I chuckled, poor Maka, she must have been worried sick.

"Calm down, Maka, she's here, in bed. Why aren't you in class?" I heard Maka shove Kid and rush upstairs, towafd my room. I pulled my covers up to my armpits as she burst in.

"Seikatsu! How did you get here?! Are you okay?!" I sighed, shaking my head.

"Kid brought me home, you need to stop being such a worrywart, Maka, even if I wasn't here, you panicking wouldn't help my case, I could have been dead already for all you know and you took the time to look instead of...was I reported missing at the academy?" I looked up at her, she stopped a minute.

"No...actually they would have known you were gone just a few minutes ago..."

"And how long have you been looking for me?"

"Three hours..."

Three hours?! I was right, I could have been dead already! Kid stepped into the room and raised an eyebrow at me, I gave him a thumbs-up and he smiled. Soul tapped Maka on the shoulder. "We should really get-"

"OH MY GOD WE'RE 2 HOURS LATE FOR CLASS!!!" Maka cried, she dashed from the room and Soul followed leisurely.

Kid strolled over and sat on the edge of the bed, moving my hair out of the way and kissing my forehead.

The rest of the day was mostly sitting in my room chatting, but I'd be lying if I said it was boring, a bunch of students came in with get-well-soon cards and the like, Miss Marie, Nygus, and even Professor Stien checked in, finally the day had come to an end and the sun had set. The moon grinned at me through the window in its own eerie but silly way, and Kid came in wearing black silk PJs, he climbed into bed with me and cuddled close, I blushed lightly and settled in, my forehead against his collarbone, we were so close I could hear his heartbeat. I smiled, his breathing slowed, I assumed he was asleep. I whispered quietly, "I love you, Kid..." and close my eyes. To my surprise, his voice broke the silence.

"I love you too, Seikatsu."
