Onslaught

We finally arrived at Elizabeth Bathory's castle, chills went up my spine, there were thousands, maybe millions of corpses buried under this castle, I didn't want to become one of them. When we landed I moved closer to Kid, fearing what was to come. He took a deep breath, wrapping a gentle arm around my waist. We carefully opened one of the side doors, leading to a dark corridor. I raised a shaky hand and a small ball of light appeared over it. This was a trick my mother taught me when I was small, because I was scared of the dark. The hallway was narrow, so we only had room to go single-file. We reached the room beyond to find that it was the grand hall, Elizabeth sat upon a throne at the end of the room, she hadn't noticed us yet, as the pillars that lined the walls concealed the entrance from sight. I took dove form and tried to get close, when suddenly, the tapestry I hid behind was torn away with thousands of pins and needles, I yelped as a couple hit my shoulder, I dropped to the ground, back in my human form. I heard Kid shift lightly, tempted to come help me, Elizabeth stood, a smirk forming on her face. "You thought you could come into my home and kill me that easily? You're a fool, Seikatsu." I twitched, she knew me? How?! "Ah, and I see you brought a guest..." shit. I forgot about Brit, I dropped her in knife form when I fell, she now sat a few feet in front of Elizabeth, her soul wavelength was everywhere, she was as scared as I was. Elizabeth gently picked up Brit, and smirked. "This is quite the powerful weapon you've got, little one. How did you acquire her? Why does she obey you? I thought all weapons and meisters were enemies to witches like you. They always have been." Kid edged forward, to get a better look at the situation. I saw Liz turn into a huge cannon, held up on his arm. I knew the plan almost instantly. I took dove form and swooped over to Elizabeth, snatching Brit back, Kid practically leapt from behind the pillar, aiming at Elizabeth.

"DEATH CANNON!" He cried, I saw a flash as I turned to land next to Kid, and the next thing I saw was a black cloud of smoke. Oh no, that wouldn't have worked against Elizabeth. Thousands have tried and failed. I landed next to Kid and shook my head at him, Liz and Patty transformed back into normal pistols.

"What do you mea-" Liz starts, I turn to Elizabeth, who we could now see faintly through the smoke.

"How rude, you should have introduced yourself at least. It's quite alright, however, it won't matter soon enough." She cackled and raised a hand, sending the needles at Kid, who dodged most of them, The needles continued to whizz around the room, splitting into swarms, like hornets or bees. When they hit, the buried deep and eventually tried to break through to the other side of wherever they punctured. It was mostly on limbs like arms and a couple scraped my neck and torso. Kid was in the same condition, I turned to a dove and flew over to him, dodging the 'stingers' as I went.

"We need to resonate as a team, like in class!" He nodded as I spoke, I used Brit in spear form to deflect a few stingers.

"Soul resonance!" Kid and I called in unison, our soul wavelengths merged, Kid sent a Death Cannon blast at Elizabeth and I floated up into the air, I pointed Brit in front of me, aiming at Elizabeth, since she was stalled by the impact of the Death Cannon, she didn't have time to react.

"KALEIDOSCOPE!" I bellowed, the light in the room dimmed as a large circle of light appeared in front of me, different geometric designs revolving within it, the circle opened and a beam of light engulfed Elizabeth. When it subsided, Elizabeth only had a few scratches. Our power wasn't strong enough, even together. Our situation was getting worse, we weren't making much progress, and her attacks were getting more and more difficult to dodge.

This battle wasnt likely to end in our favor, now each swarm had split and were whizzing around the room on their own, some targetting me, some targetting Kid, Elizabeth even had to dodge one or two of them herself, and eventually brought a swarm together to protect herself from my, Kid's, and her own attacks.

A few minutes of these attacks passed and I eventually found a pattern. Soon enough more stingers were after me than Kid and he had an opening to focus mostly on attacking Elizabeth, but he got distracted, my eyes widened as I watched three or four stingers go straight through the center of his chest, he stopped for a moment, as did the stingers, which slowly moved to aim at him, now that he was still, he was an easy target. They all went flying for him. "KID!!!" I screamed, I jumped into the fray and knocked him out of the way of most of them, a few still caught his torso and a throat. I took a shaky breath as he closed his eyes, laying his head back into my arm, he was exhausted.

"Kid, get up!" Liz cried. Blood slowly dripped down his neck, he was breathing heavily, I heard metallic scraping to my left, a swarm of stingers coming, I didn't have time to heal Kid, I put up a bright, intense light barrier around the two of us, the stingers melted upon contact with the barrier but it wouldn't last long. Kid was now breathing more slowly, I knew he'd be fine once he calmed down, he could heal from this, but tears of worry perked in my eyes anyway. Suddenly I heard someone outside the barrier, they weren't Elizabeth though, there were four new people in the room. A loud voice was blabbering about how easy this'd be, another, more worried and calm voice told him to calm down. A serious voice noticed my barrier and told everyone else that "They must be in there!" And finally a qieter voice spoke, but I couldn't really make out the words. My barrier was dissipating, I was weak, I used what I had left to stop Kid's bleeding and closed my eyes, letting the barrier dissappear, waiting for the swarm of stingers. None came, my eyes snapped open and I looked up, thin, weaving lines of steel covered where my barrier used to be, I melted away a place for me to crawl out, weak and tired from the battle and dragged myself out, after removing my jacket, folding it, and placing it under Kid's head, laying him down, and taking Liz and Patty with me, just in case. I peeked out, seeing a familiar sandy-haired scythe meister using a red-black-and-silver scythe to deflect a few stingers as a blue-haired meister attacked the Countess with an enchanted sword.

"They came!" Patty cried, now cheerful.

"Wait...how did they know we were here...?" Brit whisper-yelled. I turned back into our little metal-fort and layed against the wall. Putting pressure on my worst wound, a long, deep cut in my left side. I didn't have the strength to heal it, so I just sat there. Waiting for everything to go quiet, I closed my eyes again, listening to Maka shout orders, BlackStar complain about it loudly, and Elizabeth spit threats and eventually, scream in agony. It was only a few seconds before I heard a light knock on the wall behind me, Maka poking her head in through the small hole I had made.

"Hey, you ok? It's safe to come out now. We finished off the Countess." She smiled lightly at me, I sighed in relief, grunting as I crawled out through the entry. I melted the hole a bit bigger, it was slow but eventually we had enough open space to reach Kid. Brit helped break away some weaker spots, as did Liz and patty, because I couldn't do much with my magic. Maka pulled a small mirror from her pocket and called Lord Death as I flopped down on the ground next to the sleeping reaper, snuggling up next to him, tears still in my eyes, thank god Maka and the others showed up. I dozed off to sleep after muttering, so quietly that no one else would hear it.

"I love you, Kid..."
