NOTE: I will be introducing Crona in this chapter, (I'm gonna be honest I completely forgot about that little shy cinnamon roll >-< NO HATE PLZ) I will refer to Crona as "him" as that is what he is referred to as in the english dub version of the SoulEater anime, I have done my research and it is known fact that Crona was designed without a gender so you can refer to him however you like, but I will be referring to him as male here because I can't really find a better alternative without the worry of offending someone. Anyhoo, BACK TO THE STORY!

It had been a few days and I was back on my feet for the most part, aside from the regular check-ups with Nygus and the seemingly spreading dark markings. Lord Death got word of an oddly powerful and elusive witch soul coming dangerously close to Death City, so he sent Kid, Maka, BlackStar, me (despite my loss of magical power I could still function as a meister with Brit), and one other meister at Maka's request to go find and apprehend or eliminate the witch. We met at the door of the DWMA so that I could meet this new meister, a boy with chin length pink hair and dark blue eyes shakily introduced himself as Crona, I smiled lightly, not wanting to seem rude or obnoxious, or to scare him. "I'm Seikatsu, it's nice to meet you." I replied cheerfully, Crona smiled lightly, I assumed I had made a good first impression so far...I hope. Suddenly an odd-looking creature popped from Crona's back, Crona looked almost as startled as I was for a second.

"Hey! What about me?!" the creature's screechy voice cried.

"O-oh, this is Ragnarok...my weapon..." Crona said, pointing up at the loud creature, I smiled and chuckled.

"well it's good to meet you too, Ragnarok." I held out my hand for him to shake, but he turned his head away with a light 'humph.'

"Don't expect me to be friendly, wierdo!" Ragnarok disappeared again and Crona sighed exasperatedly, we finally were on our way and when we neared the border I could almost immediately feel the witch's presence.

"You guys feel that?" I looked around the area, we were in a dark alley near the edge of the city, the gate was just at the other end, a light creak came from the gates and everyone leapt behind a few crates lying around, I peeked around the corner to see a woman around twenty years older than us step through the gate and close it behind her, she wore a dark cloak with a hood that hid most of her hair and face, she muttered something and a second or two later her soul wavelength seemed just as normal as any other human's. I nodded at Kid, who was just behind the crate next to me, and crept out of the shadows as she passed, Kid and I both followed her down the road, BlackStar watched her from the rooftops, and Maka and Crona were a block down to cut her off.

We followed her for a few minutes with my soul protect on so she didn't notice us, I looked down the street a ways to see Maka and Crona reaching the corner ahead of us, perfect, they waited a moment and Soul checked a fake watch on his wrist to make it look like they were waiting for the bus. I smirked, we had this in the bag. We had reached the checkpoint, Crona and Maka took their places, Maka had Soul in hand and Crona now held a dark-colored shortsword with bright red lips near the hilt, Ragnarok had to have been the most odd-looking weapon I've ever seen in my life. Brit was already in knife form for the entire journey, hidden in my pocket, and Kid had Liz and Patty ready to fire, the witch looked at Maka, then Crona, then Kid, then me. Her eyes widened, and BlackStar attacked from above, Tsubaki was in her classic chain-scythe mode, and they had torn the bottom of the witch's cloak, but otherwise she dodged the assault. Crona cried something out and Ragnarok screamed, next thing I knew the road was obliterated in front of him, the witch only three inches from being hit by whatever had just happened. Maka tried to attack the woman but she blocked it with what looked like her bare hands, save the flashes of light that emitted from every contact. Kid was shooting from where he stood and nearly hit her several times, but she dodged each of their attacks fluently, she almost looked as if she were dancing. My turn, I dashed into the fray with Brit held in front of me, she transformed to her spear form and the witch and I clashed for a few seconds, she knocked me back and nearly ran right into another attack from Crona. she held out her hand a few inches from Crona's face and a flash of light blinded him, she spun to face BlackStar and did the same, she ducked another shot from Kid and began blocking more with her arm, an odd glowing barrier covering wherever was getting shot, I squinted at the magic she was using...light magic like mine...Maka took another swing at her, she dodged, her hood fell off revealing silver hair and familiar magenta eyes. I had to stop this.

"Cease fire!" I shouted, Kid immediately stopped, Maka glanced over at me mid-attack with a surprised look on her face, the witch deflected her attack and glanced over at me, then Kid, and back at me. I stepped toward her cautiously, inspecting her further, I continued closer, Kid glanced between me and the familiar witch, a confused and shocked look slowly creeping across his face. I knew this witch, all too well. "Mum?"

"Enid Melisentia, it's been a long time. What brings you here?" Lord Death tilted his head slightly, my mother still looked afraid, but less so now.

"I came to find Seikatsu, Sir, I want to help." Mum explained that she knew the curse that had been placed on me, but she couldn't break it until my father was defeated, she still didn't know how they were resurrected, but she knew that there were multiple witches resurrected in the area as well, and a spike in the presence of kishin around the world. That was likely the work of my father, and it wasn't likely to stop.

"But why should we trust a witch?" BlackStar remarked smugly, Tsubaki looked at Lord Death apologetically while Kid, the twins, Maka, and Brit all glared daggers at BlackStar.

"Well we all trust Seikatsu, yes? So why not her mother? Plus, Enid had helped in the witch hunt a few years before Seikatsu was born, so we can be sure she's a trustworthy source for information." Lord Death replied as BlackStar rolled his eyes lightly. Now I knew Kid was mad, I took his hand and squeezed it lightly, he sighed a bit, and re-focused on the situation at hand.

"We need to locate Seikatsu's father, if we have any hopes of ending this unbalance and breaking the curse he put on Kat, it lies in defeating him." I smiled a little at the nickname he had given me, Mum smirked at us, I wouldn't hear the end of this for sure.

We all agreed it would be best for Mum to stay at the Gallows Mansion with us while we worked on a new, smaller estate for the Melisentia family, which was just me and Mum. Everyone sat at the table for dinner, I helped Kid in the kitchen and brought a few plates to the table. When everyone was settled, Mum decided to speak up. "So, 'Kat', you finally found yourself a nice boy to settle down with?" She turned to us smugly, trying to sound fake-innocent, Kid and I both immediately knew exactly what she was talking about, and our faces immediately turned red, Patty and Brit were laughing histerically already, and Liz snickered under her breath.

"MUM!!" I cried, too embarrassed to say anything else, I covered my face with my hands. Kid tried to carry on eating without making things awkward, but I don't think I want to know what he was thinking when he stifled a laugh and smirked, I looked over at him and a little too snarkliy replied, "What are you laughing at?" He looked over and chuckled.

"I wouldn't be opposed to that." He raised an eyebrow at me while Brit stifled a laugh and Mum chuckled lightly.
