Dr. Stephanie flipped through the numerous pages once again trying to find something she might have missed after reading through the same character profile for what felt like the hundredth time.

This was possibly be the most high profile patient she had ever been assigned to and she didn't want to make any mistakes. The case was clear cut and so simple and yet the thought process behind Rosalie Franklin's was something that she would eventually have to uncover in order to establish an appropriate treatment plan.

Her heart sank when she stared at the front page with the girls picture on it.

She was only seventeen years old and she had stabbed another student to death in his house with a wooden dagger. They were practically still children and now both their lives were gone.

Dr. Stephanie could feel goosebumps across her skin as she read through every eye witnesses statements, the tape recording and Rosalie's written statement.

To her Rosalie exhibited classic symptoms of Schizophrenia, particularly the paranoid subtype. She strongly believed her victim Zayn Malik was plotting against her, that he was somehow after her life and so she ended his instead.

Rosalie had been extremely subdued and uncooperative during their first session so she couldn't really understand what had finally pushed her over the edge to commit the crime. Dr. Stephanie knew however that in cases like hers it was only a matter of time that such a person would resort to violence because the disease could escalate quickly under stressful situations and without medication.

She also wanted to know why Rosalie had chose Zayn as her victim. To be honest patients such as her fixated on random people all the time. There may not even be a valid reason, maybe she was attracted to him or maybe because he was someone new.

She had admitted to seeing him at the bar that night. Since that was the first time she had seen him, Dr. Stephanie had to assume he had been there and that she had noticed him but he was only the distraction not the disease. A symptom.

Symptoms often emerged when a person is aged 16 to 30 years old. In Rosalie's case she was seventeen and her parents were constantly arguing, creating a stressful situation for her at home.

Dr. Stephanie also believed that Rosalie had known or at least suspected her father had been cheating on her mother. That and the stress of starting another year at school must have been the trigger to her inherited disease.

The timing was precise. She started hallucinating about Zayn being a vampire only two nights before school started.

She needed someone to help her cope with everything. She needed someone to give her the courage to spy on her father. Most people, adults included generally would not have had the guts to do something like that alone. And she needed a companion after her best friend Melanie had started mixing with other people.

In fact Dr. Stephanie was positive that Zayn had been her coping mechanism during numerous occasions.

When Melanie had deserted her during the Riverton High basketball game, Rosalie had assumed Zayn the vampire had done something to her and had gone out to look for her and found him instead.

A distraction for the absence she felt when she was alone.

When Derek had assaulted her like she had claimed during a house party, she had stabbed him but she believed Zayn had bit him because it had given her the strength and guts to do something she wouldn't normally have done.

A strength for her powerlessness.

The girl was powerful only she didn't realize it. She had single-handedly swam out of Swan River by herself in the freezing weather after attempting suicide.
