My ears woke up before the rest of my body did, registering the sound of my bedroom door being knocked along with my mother's voice telling me breakfast was ready. It took a lot of effort to move amidst the comfort of my pillows and comforter. I couldn't remember how I'd ended up in my bed and my mind could only conjure up one explanation. Zayn.
It took even more effort for me to open my eyes. My eyelids protested, as if they had been glued shut the night before. The bitter aftertaste of sleep and vodka lingered in my mouth, bringing back a flood of memories I didn't want to remember.
Blocking them out, I attempted to stretch like I usually did every morning but a sharp pain reverberated from my arm all the way up to my neck making me recoil in agony. I bit my lip as tears of pain pooled at the corners of my eyes.
My back felt sore all over and it took all my effort to finally sit up and inspect my arm. I pulled the sleeve of my shirt up and saw two dark red dots in the middle of my arm. There was no vague bruising to confuse me this time, this was the real deal. A real vampire's bite.
There was a bit of blood that had stained my sleeve but other than that my bed was clean. Even the wound looked like it had healed, the two dots nothing but dried up scabs. I placed my feet on the floor and leaned over feeling slightly giddy.
Last night had been eventful to say the least. My thoughts flitted back and forth between Derek, Zayn and Melanie. I wondered what had happened to Derek. I wondered how Mel's night had been like and if she had done what she said she was going to do and then a thought hit me. Jake. Zayn had stolen Jake's car to drive me home.
My ears burned as the blood rushed to them. Not feeling quite so dizzy anymore I shot up from my bed and practically ran to my room window. Sure enough Jake's car was parked outside in our driveway.
"Rosalie!" My mothers voice boomed from down the hall.
How the hell was I going to explain this to them? I was sure my parents were going to have a lot of questions for me later.
I blinked a few times half expecting the car to suddenly disappear but it remained where it was. Why didn't Zayn just get rid of it?
Just the thought of him caused a whirlwind of emotions to flood through my veins. A mixture of anger, fear, frustration and maybe a little bit of admiration as well. I couldn't help myself. In a twisted sort of way my heart softened at the thought of him saving me from Derek.
I knew for a fact that he didn't have my best interests at heart but he saved me from that idiot psycho rapist last night. That had to count for something right?
Ignoring the fact that he bit me again I swayed on my feet not wanting to leave the confinements of my room and thoughts. I stood there for a while and then realized I would have to move sooner or later so I finally walked to the bathroom and washed up.
I changed my shirt with much difficulty due to my sore back and throbbing arm and then I walked to the kitchen to see my parents already seated at the table.
My mouth watered at the sight of scrambled eggs, bacon and toast on the table and I quickly sat down, greedily piling up my plate in the process.
"Slow down sweetheart, the food's not going anywhere," my mother smiled as I began stuffing my face like there was no tomorrow.
I didn't know why I was so hungry but after having a few mouthfuls of food, I already felt less weak.
"So, how was the game last night?" My father asked. I could tell from his face that that question was just for courtesy sake. Knowing my father this was just foreplay.
