So here I was sitting on Melanie's bed pouring out a censored version of the all the things that have happened. I hated hiding things from my best friend but the fact that Melanie almost blurted out that I'd originally planned on hitting Zayn with the ball made me wary of telling her the whole truth.

What if I told her Zayn was a vampire bent upon tormenting me and she told Jake or someone else? No way was I going to let that happen. Lying to her made me feel a bit guilty but I promised myself that when I got some answers and proof I would eventually tell her the truth.

"So let me get this straight. You needed some air and you were angry about getting detention so you skipped class and went out into the backwoods? And you met Mikaela who was there smoking, all by herself?" Melanie stared at me incredulously.

I nodded quickly and looked at the window. It was silly of me but in the span of two hours of explaining everything to my best friend I had looked at the window almost a hundred times. Every time I caught the reflection of something which would turn out to be nothing my heart would jump to my throat but so far I was relieved to see no sign of him.

Damn the guy. He wasn't even here and yet he had the power to give me palpitations.

"And this morning you were ambushed by Aurora and the others because you were walking with Zayn?" Melanie pushed.

"Yes. yes." I sighed. Why did she have to repeat everything I said as a question?

"Why were you walking with him anyway?"

That honestly startled me. I wasn't expecting that question although I probably should have. Great now I had to come up with another lie.

"I don't know. He was alone so I thought I'd walk him to class. You know do a good deed," I replied curtly and she snorted. I probably should have omitted the last part.

"Don't lie to me Rosalie. You like him, don't you? First the ball, now this?" she smirked and leaned forward making me squirm in place. "Why would you lie about Harry? You do realize he's gonna be so pissed when he finds out, right?"

"I don't like the guy Mel!" I defended but my face turned scarlet betraying my words. I didn't even know why I was blushing, I wasn't interested in either of those guys.

"Haha you can fool the world but you can't fool me Ro. Don't worry I won't tell the others about your little crush. Although I do think the two of you would make a really cute couple." She was looking at her nails now studying her perfectly painted red nail polish.

"You said the same thing about Harry."

"You'd look good with either, or both if you can handle it," she teased, giggling furiously when she saw my eyes widen.

"Oh my God Mel, you're too much," I cried turning the other way so that she wouldn't see how red my face was.

The bed shifted and I could feel her getting comfortable too. After a few minutes of her tossing and turning she finally settled down. "I can't believe the Mikaela Stratford greeted you today. I heard she's never done that before."

"Ya, well she's a weirdo I tell you," I replied. My eyelids were starting to feel heavy with exhaustion filling every single muscle fiber in my body.

"You should have seen Aurora's face," she laughed before yawning loudly.

"I wish I could erase it from my mind."

After a few minutes of mumbling to each other we both succumbed to the solace of sleep but it didn't last long for though. The sound of glass tapping made me jump up in fright.
