"Mom, dad?"
My parents look up from their dinner. It's been a couple of days since I told Simon he can come over and I've been holding off telling my parents.
"Yes honey? Is something wrong?"
You guys.
"No I just wanted to tell you that that friend I mentioned last week is coming over." I take a fork full of mash potatoes into my mouth.
"The goon has friends?" Mandy speaks up, evilly smiling my way.
She shouldn't be one to talk,
"Yes Mandy, of course she has friends." Dad once again gets defensive. Mandy mimics him quietly then returns her attention to her lap.
"Well that's great sweetie, we can't wait to meet him." Mom gives a reassuring smile, then continues eating.
"Wait wait wait, that guy who texted me is coming? I looked him up on Facebook, he is super hot."
I know. My face heats from the truth. To believe he wanted to kiss me.
"Yeah."
"Well too bad he doesn't go for confused little shits like yourself." Spits Mandy, not even realizing her hurtful words.
"Mandy! Take that back!" My mom bangs on the the table, causing me to flinch. She's a phsyco when angry.
"Sorry plastic tits." She scoots her chair from under the table then leaves the room.
"We are happy for you Andy." Dad takes my hand in his and I glance to mom who's trying to hide her rage.
"Thanks."

"Andy, someone's calling for you." I race down the stairs in my uniform, ready to go to school.
That bruise I got still hasn't gone away, but concealer and foundation is holding up it's end.
"Who is it?"
Mom covers the phone with her hand.
"It's some Simon guy, is that the guy?"
"Give me the phone." She lets go to watch from the sidelines.
"What does he want?" Mom taps my shoulder as I put the phone to my ear.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Andrea?"
"Hello again. Did you need something?"
"I thought that since you are so willing to let me in your home this Friday, that I could do something in return."
"And what would that be?" Just thinking of what it may be makes me smile.
"Come to your door." I walk with the phone to the door.
"Okay." Will something pop out behind it?
"Open it." I slowly open the door and my mom squeaks when I do. On the curb in front of my house sits Simon's truck with him grinning in it. "I came to pick you up!"
"Oh sweetheart he's a devil! It's so nice of him to come pick you up to go to school. He should, he made you walk home Saturday."
"Mom stop.' I end the call with Simon and grab my school bag.
He came to get me? Him just taking me home a couple of days ago was fine.
"Hey pretty lady." Simon opens the car door for me from the inside.
