Simon's P.O.V

"Why don't you cover your face with this weirdo?!" I stop running to grab another flag off a person, when I turn to see that boy from  my class getting pummeled into the dirt.

His face rises for air, when it's quickly shoved back by little feet. He squirms but doesn't make a sound. If he  just cried, the teacher will come and break this off. I want to do something, but what if they don't listen?

I  swiftly turn my head to see our homeroom teacher running out onto the playground, scoping the guy up in her arms, then rushes out the door again. She left in the first place to get something from her classroom, and that's when those kids started beating on him. I'll admit he's strange, but he isn't bad. I've talked to him before, very funny and has a cute half smile, that shows off his missing tooth. I remember that one time when he dressed in girl's clothing, saying it felt nice and breezy as he put it. I first thought it was super crazy for a boy to be wearing girl stuff, but I went home that night  and tried on one of my mother's skirts. He's right, it is airy.

"Simon? Are you coming? We are still playing." I look back to one of my flag football buddies, waiting for me to continue the game.

"Later." I run to the door leading to  the building, and race all the way to the nurse's office.

There I find our teacher talking to the nurse, with the nurse frantically trying to to clean up the boy. He sits, blue eyes wide in amazement that his hands got so dirty. My teacher spots me when she starts walking out.

"Oh Simon, good. I was just about to get one of you to stay with Andrew. He had an accident as you can tell." I look back to him, dirt caked hands and a mud masked face is all I can see, with bright blue eyes beaming brightly.

There quite pretty.

I nod, slowly approaching the boy. He looks up from his hands, stares at me then looks down.

"Boy, you need to stop this! Coming to this school, acting this way. Be more like your sister!" The nurse takes a rag and scrubs at Andrew's face, taking off dirt and makeup.

I don't know why he came with it on his face, but it wasn't bad. Made him look almost like a girl, except for his shaggy brown hair, that gave away his boyish self. Andrew looks to me again, this time the nurse notices.

"That was quick. I need you to help him with the makeup. I have to deal with another kid a little bit more important." The nurse explains, grabbing her coat, leaving the office.

She threw the rag into Andrew's hands, so he just sits there, holding on to it.

"Hey." I might as well talk to him, to ease the awkwardness. He doesn't say anything in response."Can I help you?"

He looks up to me with shock in his eyes, but agrees to my assistance. I take off my tag football belt, sit on a chair next to him,and take the rag from his hands. He flinches when I accidentally touch him.

Could he be scared of me?

I've never been mean to him, in fact, I've tried to talk with him. I thought he needed someone. He does have this one person who always hangs around him, protecting him like a puppy dog would.

Seeing him up close has me realized how girly he looks; His face is small, eyes are big and blue like those creepy dolls my mother had in her closet, and his hands are small for a boy. I stare at his facial features more. Half of his face is cleared of makeup and dirt, but the other half hides his plump cheeks and nose. I trace the rag over his nose, grabbing it between my finger to get it extra clean. It's squishy, and  if I was to flick it, I think it would fall off. I then slowly rub dirt off his forehead.
