As Anne arose in the early hours of the morning, she greeted the cherry blossom tree outside, and admired the birds who were chirping away outside. Something was different this time round. There wasn't anything going on at school, yet she still felt butterflies fly around in her stomach, Gilbert. A smile peered across her cheeks, however as she looked in the mirror.. her smile turned into a frown.

She didn't see anything of pure beauty. She was a dog.. Billy Andrews comments really were cruel, she though. She wiped a singular tear from her cheek and took her hair out. Whenever she leaves her braids in over night, her hair becomes ever so wavy. She was tempted to leave it out, but knew Marilla would scold her. She redid her braids, placed on her dress, tied her boots, and headed toward the kitchen. She pondered on the thought though, What was it that Gilbert found so attractive?

"Good morning Marilla!" Anne bursted with enthusiasm. She knew this would be a good day. What could possibly ruin it? She was going to head to school with Gilbert today, as she told Diana through communicating with their windows and candles (their form of quick talk instead of running to each other). Everything between Anne and her friends were going marvellously, which was another contributing factor toward her happiness.

"Anne, you look well this morning." Marilla commented. "Please set the table like usual, and do try and slow down as you will surely knock something over with your haste!"

"Sorry Marilla." Anne knew Marilla meant well, she just wished she would show it, like on the night of the play. As Mathew entered Green gables, he placed his hat on the rack, and entered the kitchen. He was starving.

"Mathew, why it's so good to see you!" She embraced the shy and frail man into a hug, and then proceeded to eat her breakfast, quicker than she had ever eaten it before. She wanted to meet up with Gilbert as quickly as possible.

For some reason, she was excited to see him, as if they had been apart for years. She felt as if she wasn't whole with out him, and as dramatic as it was, she loved the feeling. She had longed for it for so long, and now that she had it, she wasn't going to let it go. As she was about to run out the door, Marilla stopped her.

"Anne!" She screamed, trying to gain the girls attention.

Anne turned toward her quickly. "Yes?"

Marilla was scared to ask - what if Anne went out on a rage and wouldn't talk to her for imposing in her personal business? But she kept her head held high, and begun.

"I know to not middle around in your business, but I am very curious about something..." Anne instantly knew what it was about.

"You and Gilbert.. the play... all weekend..." Marilla has a smile on her face. She was well aware of the feelings they had for each other, she just didn't know if they had acted upon them, and she was very intrigued. Anne couldn't help but smile whenever his name was thrown around, especially as she knew Marilla was implying something more.

"Why Marilla Cuthbert, if you had told me I would be in love with Gilbert Blythe not that long ago I would of screamed at you, ran out the door in one of my fiery outbursts. But... I think that hiding my feelings just ruins them altogether..." she smiled, then continued. "If it's ok with you, he asked me to be 'his' officially yesterday. I of course said yes, but if you don't approve I will oblige to you!"

Marilla laughed.

"Anne, I love the boy! Both Mathew and I do. He is so charming, and he reminds me a lot of his father.." As Marilla said these words, she instantly thought back to when she was a girl; to when she was in love with a Blythe, and had hoped to marry. She didn't want Anne to not have that experience, as she knew what it was like to not have it.

Anne ran to kiss Marilla on the cheek, then left Green Gables. She was of too Gilbert's house.

-

As Anne approached the wooden door, she became slightly nervous. Why did she need to feel nervous? They had spent all weekend together. She wondered if it was because people at school would finally realise that her and Gilbert were 'together', she couldn't tell.

She knocked on the door, and awaited for Gilbert to open the door. To her surprise, Mary did. Anne was slightly taken back, she hadn't prepared to meet his 'mum' yet, but knew she needed to make a good first impression.

"Hello, my name is Anne. Gilbert and I are walking to school together." She smiled, and put her hand in front of her. Mary shook it as common curtesy.

"I'm Mary, Gilbert's adoptive mum. It's so nice to finally meet you, I have heard a lot about you. Do come in, Gilbert will be down momentarily."

She walked into the house, and sat on one of their couches.

"You have heard about me? I hope only good things!" Anne didn't realise Gilbert talked about her, even though it did hit her that Sebastian said the same thing to her aswell; i have heard a lot about you.

"Why yes. He says that you are very kind and passionate, as well as extremely smart and polite. I can see why he is so smitten about you."

As she finished this sentence, Anne began to giggle. Hearing other people acknowledge their happiness so well was a great start. But she was curious about something.. which she had almost brushed off her mind. Gilbert had said that he wouldn't be at school every now and again, and she wanted to know why.

"If it isn't too bold to ask..." Anne paused, should she even ask? "Gilbert told me last week that he may not come to school for a certain reason, he wouldn't tell me why.." she didn't finish her sentence, hoping Mary would.

Mary couldn't be mad at Gilbert for telling someone. He had been given a huge burden to carry around.

"I was sick is all. It was horrible timing, as I wasn't able to see the play. It's all well though, I am feeling much better now!"

"That's horrible news about you being sick, but wonderful that your feeling better. Gilbert wasn't supposed to perform, but he ended up having to play Romeo, and may I say he was quite amazing!" Anne blushed alittle, which Mary noticed.

"If I may ask, are you two... together?"

Anne didn't know how to answer, thankfully she didn't have to, for a handsome Gilbert Blythe appeared to her rescue yet again.

"Yes we are Mary!" She saw Gilbert standing behind her, and instantly rose to her feet. They both smiled, happy that they could be open about how they feel toward each other.

"I'm glad of it. He talked so much about you, I was wondering how long it would take for him to ask. I like you a lot Anne! I do hope you would come to dinner some time with Sebastian and myself." Mary was happy, she approved of her sons choice in girls.

"Of course. I'll talk to you soon, it was nice to meet you!"

And with that, Gilbert escorted Anne out of the house. He was extremely smitten - both his parents approved of Anne! It's all he could ever want. Together, they were off to school.

Authors note: This is the last small chapter I will do. I was going to have the last chapter, this chapter and the next combined, but thought why not bring out the suspense ;) feel freee to comment your thoughts so far <3
