As Anne, Mary and Sebastian approached the door, Anne felt it to be weird having to knock on the door to enter in her own home. As she was only going to ever have to do this once, she thought to make it very entertaining.
She knocked a particular pattern, a tune that everyone knew. It wasn't a song as such, but was easily recognisable. Within seconds, a shy Mathew Cuthbert opened the door.
Before he could introduce his guests, Anne enveloped the man into a warm hug.
"It's so good to see you Mathew. Two days feels like an eternity to be apart from people that you love so dearly!"
She kissed him on the cheek, and then ran to Marilla, who was preparing dinner. She hugged the unexpected women from behind, almost crushing Marilla's fragile bones into half.
"It's good to see you child! But Anne, where are your manners, leaving Sebastian and Mary on their own. Show them where their things go!"
Marilla knew all to well that Mathew was to shy, so as Anne was instructed, she quickly paced back to Gilbert's parents.
"Sorry to the both of you, I didn't mean to be rude. I loved spending time with you both, and now I can happily say that you two are now considered to be my second parents!" The two adults and child embraced in a group hug, but then broke when they heard a familiar voice.
"I feel as if I'm intruding in a very sentimental moment here.."
Mathew, Marilla, Sebastian and Mary had no idea as to what sentimental meant, but then again, they never knew what Gilbert and Anne talked about most the time.
Anne turned her head to see Gilbert Blythe standing on the top of the stairs. As he made his way down, Anne ran toward him, eyes flickering with happiness. She jumped into his arms, which he retaliated by swinging her around in circles, her feet dangling in the air.
They were happy to see each other, as days apart felt like years. They didn't want that feeling to occur again, as they knew all to well how it felt - easy to say that they hated it.
When Gilbert finally placed Anne on the ground, she cupped her hands against his cheeks, smiles growing onto both their faces.
"It's good to see you Anne!" He chuckled.
"As it is to you Gilbert. You look very nice!" Gilbert stepped back from Anne and did a cute swirl, showing off his outfit. He wore plain black trousers, with a plain white shirt and his red and black jacket. His curls were ruffled, and his eyes, those damned eyes, enchanted Anne into a deep trance. He really could make the plainest outfit look so good.
"I must say though, Anne Shirley Cuthbert, you look like an angel that god has placed onto this earth himself!" He grinned at his smooth remark. Anne slightly pulled away, looking down at the floor.
Gilbert knew she thought of herself to be ugly, but he didn't mind in telling her that she was wrong every day until it sunk into her mind that it wasn't true, that she was beautiful.
Gilbert pulled her tight into his arms, to which Anne looked into his eyes. Before, she wouldn't of had the courage to look into his eyes, for fear she wouldn't be able to look away. But now, it didn't matter if she did or didn't.
