Jinyoung remained silent for a good minute, wondering why.

He decided not to ask because maybe there wasn't a good reason.

Maybe there wasn't a reason at all.

Jinyoung stood up and turned to face Jaebum.

Obviously, Jaebum expected him to ask why, or ask for a good reason.

He was shocked when he watched Jinyoung stand in front of him and take off his shirt shamelessly.

Their eyes were locked for a moment before Jaebum had the courage to look at his bare body.

At that moment, he felt something hit him.

Something that made him want to cry, destroy the man who did this, and be fearful for his lover's life all at the same time.

He was hit with so many emotions at once that he couldn't bare the pain coursing through his body.

There, were large bruises all over Jinyoung's body.

They were dark and stood out. It looked painful even for Jaebum.

He reached out a shaky hand to touch them, heart clenching when he saw Jinyoung flinch.

Before he had the chance to let a tear slip, he noticed Jinyoung's neck.

The love bruises had faded.

His marks were replaced with ones of pain, not love.

At that, Jaebum buried his face in his hands filled with regret.

He had never felt so useless in his life.

Jinyoung knelt down in front of his lover, placing his bruised hands on his knees and looking at him.

"I'm s-sorry..." Jaebum whispered, refusing to look at the younger.

"If only I hadn't l-left... if only I stayed with you, I could have protected you..." Jaebum said between heavy breaths.

Jinyoung felt his heart break over and over again at every word he said.

"It wasn't your fault. You aren't to blame for this." Jinyoung reassured in his soft, caring voice.

He stood up and Jaebum looked up at him, then softly and hesitantly wrapped his arms around the younger's torso.

"I don't want to be helpless if a worse situation arises." Jaebum mumbled into his abdomen.

"It's ok, love. Don't blame yourself. I love you." Jinyoung whispered, stroking the older's hair.

"I love you too, baby. I love you so much." Jaebum stood up and kissed Jinyoung's lips delicately as he wrapped his arms around him in hopes to keep him safe.

"I need to go to the library."

Jinyoung walked into his room, where Jaebum layed on the bed scrolling through his phone, surprising him with his sudden statement.

It was the day after next, and Jaebum had been telling Jinyoung about how he didn't want him to go out without him, which is why Jinyoung came to him with this.

The bruises on his body faded a bit, but were still visible, and the constant reminder upset Jaebum.

"When?"

"Now."

"N-Now?"

Jinyoung broke into a smile and walked over to the side of the bed only to kiss Jaebum on the forehead.
