"SAY IT! Say it Anne, you daft, thick headed girl! I won!"
"And what makes you think I will, Lillian?"
"Can you two please shut up?"
"SHOVE OFF JERRY!"
It was a very peaceful afternoon at the Cuthbert household. Everyone was minding their own business : Anne and Lily were hanging out with Jerry at the barn, Margaret was reading a book with Gilbert, Marilla was visiting her aunt and Matthew was fixing the roof, because it was horribly leaking when it rained.
Well, it was peaceful until Charlie came with emergency news. Those news were the reason Anne and Lily were bickering for almost thirty minutes.
There was actually no gold in Avonlea. Just like Lily said. Margaret also knew the rumors were far from true but a part of her still hoped. Her gaze was lifted from the book when she heard the two girls arguing.
Standing up from her bed, she leaned over the window to take a better look at the two, who were still arguing. Gilbert was asleep, a closed book in his hands. Deciding that it was best to stop the awful yelling before Matthew gets angry and makes them do chores again, Margaret silently left the room. When she reached the barn, they were still making a ruckus.
"What in the name of lord is happening here? Don't you two have something better to do than be at each other's throats?" crossing her hands over her chest, Margaret looked between the two girls and Jerry.
"Don't ask me, ask these two! They're completely insane!" Jerry lifted his hands up before backing up and finishing his chores quietly, leaving Margaret to stare at the two girls.
When they didn't answer, she decided to speak up "Well?"
"I'm sorry, Margaret but Anne dearest was extremely irritated by the fact that I was right about the gold, not her." Lily scoffed, her hands on her hips.
"No, I was irritated by the fact that you were rubbing it in my face!" Anne waved her hands around, and it was true, she was irritated.
"Well I don't care who did what and who started it, but I'm going to finish it. You two better stop yelling or the next time I come here I'll be bringing Matthew with me." Margaret said with a smile, and Jerry gave her a thankful look.
The girls gasped. "You wouldn't dare."
"Oh I would. And if you want to test my patience, I suggest you do it very, very carefully." Margaret said before walking away.
"It's still your fault, Anne." Lily said with a pout.
.
.
."Want some cherry juice?" Margaret was wandering around the kitchen looking for food, Anne and Lily sitting at the table. They finally made a deal that the fight was uncalled for and they made up.
"Ha! Cherry juice." Anne smirked and Margaret started laughing. Lily just confusedly watched the two girls.
"Not that cherry juice. The real one." Margaret put a bottle of juice on the table before heading to the bathroom.
Margaret liked to take long warm baths because they relaxed her. She entered her room to take a towel and a hair ribbon because she didn't like to get her hair wet.
"That was the best sleep I ever had. This bed is so comfy. Like a cloud." Gilbert said when he saw Margaret enter, causing her to let out a chuckle.
"I'm really glad you're enjoying yourself, Mr Blythe. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take a bath." pointing towards the door, Margaret went for the doorknob before she felt someone close it.
"What are you doing?" cocking an eyebrow, Margaret gave Gilbert a confused look.
"I need to ask you something."
"What is it that you have to ask?"
"I heard some rumors..."
Gilbert wiggled his eyebrows before opening his mouth to continue, but was soon cut short when Margaret placed a finger to his lips.
"I swear if you ask about the gold-"
"So there isn't any?"
"No! Now good day!" sighing, Margaret went out the door and slammed them on her way out.
"Geez, I just asked..." Gilbert said, scratching his head before laying on the bed again and opening his book.
Meanwhile Margaret was filling the bath with water, nervously stomping her foot on the floor.
"Gold... It brought us more trouble than good! And yet they still talk about it!"
She took her clothes off and entered the water, the warmth engulfing her whole body.
"Stupid kids. Everyone knows that Avonlea is a poor town. There's no-" Margaret was talking to herself when someone barged in the bathroom, violently opening the door.
"-GODDAMN GOLD, ANNE!"
Margaret jumped up in the bath, covering herself, before she saw who the person was.
"Lily why are you yelling?"
The dark haired girl groaned before slamming the door shut and putting a chair below the doorknob so no one would come in.
"And what on earth are you doing?"
Lily suddenly turned to Margaret, holding her hand to her heart.
"Margaret? Wh-what are you doing here?" she stammered causing Margaret to chuckle and cover her face with her hand.
"Oh God please! When will I ever have some peace?" she said, looking up at the ceiling with her hands in front of her face.
Taking a deep breath, she turned to Lily.
"Listen, I had enough of this talk about the rumors. So please, join me in this nice bath that is surely to help you get rid of the vile thoughts of the golden substance that is supposedly falsely located in this certain area."
"Is that a bath or holy water because I've never heard you say so many smart things at once!" Lily smirked, her arms on her hips. Margaret just shrugged.
"Sorry Margaret but I'll have to pass. Anne would get jealous and then she'd get all pouty and mad and I can't possibly have that. I'll just leave now." winking, Lily removed the chair and opened the door.
"Oh, and if you still want company, just ask Gilbert. I'm sure he'd love to join!"
Lily's laughter was stopped by a towel that Margaret threw in her face.
/this chapter fucking sucks I'll make up for it I promise ugh/
