"I can't believe we did that!" Margaret said in between laughs right after Jerry finished his story about two drunk girls who thought wine was cherry juice.

"We're so incredibly stupid!" Anne was clutching her stomach, unable to control her laughter as she folded in her chair.

The three kids were sitting at the Cuthbert kitchen, peeling potatoes. Yep. Matthew found out about their adventure and decided not to tell Marilla if the kids peel the potatoes instead of him. How incredibly kind.

"And christmas carols? I thought you knew better than that!" Jerry chuckled, throwing the potato inside the already half full bowl.

"Hey, Jingle bells is my jam!" Anne scoffed before flicking her braids behind her shoulders. Margaret chuckled as she took another potato from the bag.

"Remind me to thank Gilbert later for coming to the rescue." Jerry said while rolling up his shirt sleeves and washing his hands.

Margaret stopped in her tracks, the potato in her hand half peeled, as she gulped loudly.

"I'm sorry, remind who?"

"Gilbert, silly. He took care of you so I wouldn't have to deal with not one ,but two bubbly girls." he answered before wiping his hands with a cloth and sitting on the chair he previously sat on.

"I-I don't remember him helping me?" the girl felt guilty for not thanking him.

"Yeah, if I drank a whole bottle of wine too I wouldn't remember either!" Jerry said, causing all three of them to laugh.

Gilbert was sitting in his room next to the window, he finally finished Pride and Prejudice and didn't have anything else to read, so he simply stared out the window, a cup of tea in his hand, watching the landscape before his eyes.

He then heard a sound. Like someone calling his name? But when he looked out the window he didn't see anything.

"What the?" he said before deciding to ignore the sound and continue his pointless staring.

Then he heard it again. But as soon as he looked out the window- nothing. He then looked at his tea. What kind of drug is this? he thought before going out of the door on his way to the kitchen to pour it down the sink.

When he came back he saw a figure getting in his room through his window. This caused him to scream a little , and the person to trip and fall over, groaning.

"Jesus, Blythe! Warn a girl!"

He scanned the girl in front of him before widening his eyes.

"Lily?"

The girl came up to her feet and engulfed him in a hug. He was shocked to say the least, but he quickly retuned it.

"Wh-what? How?" he stuttered as she took her scarf and coat off.

"I have so much to tell you! I finally got rid of that slimy git called Charles!" sitting on his bed, she patted next to her, motioning him to sit down. He gave her a look that said explain please and she sniggered.

"So, I was running home from the store one day when I hear him talking with someone. I didn't mean to eavesdrop but I heard a few things about someone coming to get our house checked. So I made sure the house was a mess before the girl from the social service came. And just like that, she came right in time to see one of his pathetic outbursts. And now I'm free! So Charles dearest better say goodbye to me and hello to jail!" she chuckled as she finished the story.

Gilbert was really happy for the girl. He engulfed her in a big tight hug, and she happily sighed.

"Welcome back to the Blythe residence."

"I can't believe you're back!" Mr Blythe was more than happy to welcome the girl to his home, again. He really grew to like her, so when Gilbert suggested to adopt her, he was more than willing to.

After she explained the events of the past week to Mr Blythe, Lily and Gilbert were out the door ,on their way to the Cuthbert household.

"I can't believe I'm going to see Anne again!" the brunette swirled around as they were nearing the small house. Spotting a boy on the porch, Lily recognized him to be Jerry, so she greeted him with a smile and a wave.

"Well hello there Jerry!" lifting his head up to look at the girl, he smiled before taking his hat off.

"Bonjour madame! Anne is in the kitchen." he pointed towards the house before winking and giving Gilbert a hand shake. It's a bro thing. Don't ask.

The brunette shyly went to knock on the door, but as soon as she lifted her hand, the door bursted open, revealing an excited Anne.

"Lily! You're here! I knew I wasn't imagining!" she hugged the girl as tight as she could before planting a firm kiss on her cheek.

"Hello Anne. I missed you."

When Lily came in she saw a familiar blonde girl sitting on the floor with a paintbrush in her hand and her hair tied in a ponytail. As soon as she heard footsteps, Margaret turned around and saw her. She wanted to hate her, but she couldn't. So she got up and gave the girl a honest hug.

"Hello Lily. I'm excited you're back!" she smiled, but Lily had a questioning look on her face, so she continued "Look, I'm sorry for how I acted towards you. I was a jerk. Forgive me? It'll never ever happen again!"

Lily smiled and hugged the blonde. Margaret was certainly taller than the girl, so she placed her chin on her head and embraced her. Then she saw him walk in. As he approached, Anne and Lily went upstairs. Anne wanted to show her the cherry tree.

"Gilbert? Wha-what are you?" she stammered before mentally slapping herself when she saw what she was wearing. 'I look like a mess! What's he going to think now!'

"Well that's a nice welcome,cherry girl."
he smirked as he took his hat off. Oh, that boy! He surely knows how to push someone's buttons.

Margaret gulped before she spoke "Yeah, about that. I can't believe what a stupid thing i did. And you helped me. Again. So. Thank you for that. Again. Honestly." she wiped her paint stained hands on her dress and stuck her hand out waiting for him to shake it. She didn't know why she did it, she just did.

"Anytime." he took her hand in his but instead of shaking it, he brought her palm to his lips and kissed it gently, causing her face to turn a crimson read.

"Well... I hope I didn't do or say anything stupid?" she sighed as she sat on the kitchen chair. He sat opposite of her and chuckled.

"Oh you said some really nice things. It's flattering ,really."

"Oh Jesus." she facepalmed. "What did I do now?"

He smirked and said "I can't tell you."

"Why?" a confused and curious look was plastered on the girl's face as she looked at the boy.

"I'd rather keep it to myself." he winked and she tried to hide her embarrassment by shrugging.

"Suit yourself, Blythe."
