Scale back your long hopes
to a short period.
While we speak,
time is envious
and is running
away from us.
Seize the day,
trusting little in the future.ODES / HORACE
A WEEK had passed since Anne made Lily return the book to it's owner, and it was exactly the last time Margaret had heard anything about Oliver since. He didn't reappear in her dreams, or run into her in the town centre, there has been no sign of him nor his exsitence ever since. And for that, Margaret was grateful. Sure, that might sound a bit rude, for what Margaret heard from the kind boy, Todd, that works at the bakery- Oliver was a really good young man. The thing was, Margaret had a plan. Well, it wasn't a very thought out plan, considering that she only made it up a little while ago, but it was a plan, nonetheless. And if you haven't guessed already, the plan is; Avoid Oliver Williams as much as possible.
"The red is starting to fade away." Anne noted, her eyes raking over Margaret's hair, as the sun rays hit over it. The two girls sat under the tree in the garden, watching the nature around them. Jerry had previously shoo'd them away from the barn, and Marilla and Matthew were out somewhere, again. Leaving the two girls all on their lonesome.
Margaret brought a hand up to her long hair. "I guess." she absentmindedly said, retrieving her hand back down to continue petting her cat, Snow. The younger redhead turned her head away from the other, biting on her lower lip as if she wanted to say something, but something else was keeping her away from it. "Blonde suits you better anyways. It makes your eyes look prettier." Anne said, leaning her back against the tree bark as she crossed her legs on the grass, the blanket that they used to cover themselves shifted, along with the snowy white cat that was settled in Margaret's arms.
A minute of silence passed before Margaret finally answered; "Thank you." the sixteen-year old said, still staring straight in front of her. Anne rolled her eyes slowly, before straightening her back. "What are you thinking about, anyways?" the girl asked, causing Margaret to shrug. "Nothing, Anne." she assured, "I'm just enjoying the view."
"Yeah, sure." Anne muttered, but kept silent after that. Though, Anne wouldn't be Anne if she would just keep quiet while her friend seems upset. Even though Margaret wouldn't admit it, Anne Shirley was not stupid. She immediately saw through her.
"Listen, if you're sad about Gilbert leaving..." Anne suddenly started, "I mean, yeah, he'll be gone for a while, but it's not like he'll be gone forever, you know? It's just like last time. He came back and everything went back to normal." she explained, turning towards Margaret who let out a sigh. Margaret fought with herself as she had to choose whether to tell Anne everything about her strange dream, or not. She knew Anne wouldn't understand completely, but she also knew that the little redhead would try her best to do so.
