ANOTHER peaceful Sunday at the Cuthbert household. Marilla and Anne were in the kitchen, baking cookies, while Margaret and Jerry were taking care of the animals. Matthew was feeling a little sick lately so they all decided to let him rest and help around the house and barn."Marilla, do you think Matthew would think my cookies are tasty?" Anne said, forming her dough to make a (quite deformed) heart.
"Of course he will, dear." Marilla said, already done with her batch of dough. Then she looked at Anne. She was on her second cookie.
"He'll appreciate the effort." Marilla continued, patting Anne's shoulder before turning to light the fire for baking.
"I wonder how Margaret and Jerry are doing so far." Anne said as she rolled the dough between her palms, a smile on her face.
"No, Margaret, you daft girl! I told you to put the eggs on the right!" Jerry said after accidentally stepping on an egg basket, breaking a few.
"You specifically said to put it on the left!" Margaret shot back as she took the basket and moved it to the right side of the barn.
"You really are deaf, I swear." he said, putting down his shovel he used for moving hay and crossing his arms in front of his chest.
"Well you're apparently confused because you said left. Not right. Not middle. Not east, not west, you said left." Margaret gave the boy a glare while she was taking out the broken egg crumbs out of the basket.
"Fine, clearly I can't explain anything to you." Jerry lifted his arms up in surrender before taking a bucket filled with hay.
"I'm going to go and feed the horse." he said, before giving Margaret an irritated glance. "Women." sighing, he exited the barn without looking in front of himself, causing him to bump into a tall figure.
"Hey watch where you're-" he groaned, looking towards the person who he bumped into.
"...going. Gilbert? What are you doing here? And who's that?" he said as he shook his friend's hand. Next to him was a dark skinned man, he had a beard and a hat. He seemed very friendly and mature.
"Uh, I heard Matthew hasn't been feeling so well lately so I brought him some apples from our orchard." the boy kindly smiled, before turning to the man next to him. "This is Sebastian. He's my friend. We met when I was away from Avonlea."
"Nice too meet you Sebastian. Well, Matthew's inside. I'll just leave this here and we can go." Jerry said, placing the bucket down next to the wall before the three went towards the house.
"Hello, Marilla. We have guests." Jerry said as he entered the house, Gilbert and Sebastian following behind him. Marilla's face lit up when she saw the boy, but Anne was scanning behind them with her eyes to see if Lily came. But sadly, she didn't ,so Anne just nodded towards them.
