AMAZING. That's how Margaret felt as she walked back to the Cuthbert farm, hand in hand with Gilbert as they talked and laughed together. Behind them, Jerry and Anne talked, Jerry being mostly worried about the broken key and the raging look on Matthew's face when he arrives.

Jerry skipped over to Margaret and Gilbert, throwing his arms around their shoulders as the two slouched from their weight.

"Sorry to interrupt you two," Jerry apologized, causing the both of them to smile at him, "But, Margaret... What are we going to do about the barn?" he finally asked, and the smile from Margaret's face dropped.

"Oh, shit!" Margaret stopped in her tracks, causing Jerry to nod at her sadly. Gilbert rolled his eyes at the girl, who went to mutter another curse before he placed his hand over her mouth.

"What about the barn?" Gilbert turned to Jerry, his eyes furrowed, a confused look plastered all over his face.

"Margaret broke the lock." Jerry shrugged, and Margaret slapped him across the head.

"Ow! C'est vrai! (It's true!)" Jerry scoffed, and Margaret rolled her eyes. She pulled Gilbert's hand away from her mouth slowly.

"Well I know it is! No need to rub it in my face." Margaret puffed, and Anne placed a hand over her shoulder. "I'm seriously not even a bit surprised." Anne admitted. "Whenever bad things happen, you two are somehow involved." she chuckled lowly.

"Us two? Non, it was this... this-" Jerry stuttered, unable to form an insult at his dear friend Margaret that stood in front of him. "Carotte!" Jerry muttered, and Margaret rolled her eyes.

"Carrot? Seriously? That's your best insult?" Margaret scoffed.

"I don't want to insult you! I want us to fix the problem before Marilla and Matthew come back!" Jerry explained, exasperated, crossing his arms in front of his chest.

"Jerry's right." Gilbert finally interfered, "We should fix it instead of arguing like a bunch of children." he looked between Margaret and Jerry, who glared at each other.

"Well, technically, we are children." Anne pointed out, but immeadiately silenced herself when the three of them gave her a look. "Alright, alright! I was just stating the facts!"

"Come on, you guys." Gilbert took a step back, looking around. They were standing in the middle of the road, arguing instead of trying to fix the problem at matter. "Seriously, we have to go. I think I can fix it somehow." he smiled, and Jerry snapped his head towards him, a happy smile on his face.

"You can?" Jerry and Anne both said in unison.

"Of course he can. He's Gilbert Blythe, he can do anything." Margaret smiled at the boy, offering him a loving gaze as he smiled back at her, his cheeks suddenly reddening.
