I made it home from the hospital. I was drained. I was at loss for words. I couldn't believe that my sister was gone. I was empty. My sister was gone. She was supposed to help me get acquainted with college in a few weeks, and now I had no one.
I was thankful for my brother though because he was keeping Kenzie for me over the weekend.
As I was climbing into bed, Corey came in the room.
"Hey babe." He said.
"Hi." I said as I pulled the covers over my body.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"No, I'm not okay. My sister is dead, and I just found out she was getting beat on by her boyfriend. What the hell do you think?" I said.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know what to say. I didn't mean to offend you." He said as he climbed in bed beside me.
We sat in silence while Corey held me. I cried and cried. I just didn't understand. I didn't want to question God but that's exactly how I feel.
Our silence was interrupted when my phone dinged, indicating that I had a text message.
Text from Kayce: im about to bring Kenzie to you real quick. I just got a hit on where Tristian at.
Text to Kayce: wait? what you mean?
Text from Kayce: Imma pay him a visit. open the door.
Text to Kayce: 🙄
"Corey go open the door for Kayce." I said.
"I thought he was keeping Kenzie the weekend." He said.
"He is. He just gotta handle some business right now." I said as I pushed him out the bed.
Corey got out the bed and went to open the door for Kayce.
"Hey lil sis." Kayce said as he entered my room.
"What's good? Now what you about to meet up with Tristian for?" I said.
Kayce gave me a look like you know damn well why.

Kayce laughed.
"Okay, mom." Kayce said.
I laughed.
"Man, get out of hear before I call your mom, and be done changed my mind." I said.
"Okay sis. Love you." He said as he left out the room, and out the door.
"I love you too." I said as I climbed back in bed and waited on Corey to come back in the room.
