I walked into the Red Med in town, signed my name and took a seat.

I think I've come down with the stomach virus or food poisoning from the food at school so I came to the doctor as a walk in patient.

I had been running a fever, throwing up, and wasn't keeping anything down but sprite.

I waited in the waiting area for what seemed like an eternity, when finally a short red headed nurse came out and called my name.

"Kyrie Carter?" She said.

I stood up, and said that's me, and she ushered me in.

I'm Nurse Doris, and I'll be checking you in.

"Step on the scale and let's see what you weigh." She said to me.

I did as she asked. She messed with the things for a while until she got them balanced.

"Alright, you can step off." You're weighing in at 165 today, Ms. Carter.

"Follow me. So we can get your blood pressure checked." Nurse Doris said.

We walked into a room, and I sat in the chair, and Nurse Doris stuck a thermometer in my mouth, while she went and got the blood pressure machine.

She took the thermometer out of my mouth.

She gasped, "My dear you have a fever of 103.7. That is way to high." Let's see what your blood pressure will be. She put the cuff on me let the machine do it's thing. It beeped indicating that it was done, and the look on her face had me scared.

"Kyrie, your blood pressure is 140/90. That is extremely high."

"I'm going to inform the doctor and I'm sure we will run test on you to see what's going on. It might be something other than food poisoning or stomach virus."

Nurse Doris left out, and about 10 minutes later, another lady came in.

"Hi, I'm Dr. Lee. Nurse Doris tells me you have a fever and your blood pressure is high." Let me ask you some questions, and I need you to be completely honest with me, okay?" He said.

"Yes, Dr. Lee." I said.

"Okay, is there any chance that you might be pregnant?"

"No way, Doc. I'm a virg-, I stopped mid-sentence."

"Dr. Lee, there is something I totally had forgot, well not forgotten but buried deep inside me until now."

"What's that Ms. Carter?"

"Well, for starters, I was raped about 3 months ago, and that was my virginity. I don't think he used a condom, so doc, it may actually be a chance."

"I'm sorry to hear that sweetie. Did you go to the emergency room to have a rape kit done the night of the assault?"

"No, sir. You're actually the first person other than my friend Marie who I've said anything to about it."

I hadn't even told my boyfriend Corey, and now there's a chance that I might be pregnant.

"Shit!" I said. So I guess let's take that test then, Doc.
