It was New Year's Eve and about a month after Rita had passed. Todd had made a lot of new friends and decided to throw a New Years Party. He invited Yoongi of course since they were friends, and despite his recent depression he decided to go.
He stood in the corner of the room observing everyone. Awkward and out of place. Todd was the only person he knew, so that wasn't helping the situation.
Todd notices him standing alone and he walks over to him. "Yo man! Whatcha doin?"
"I'm enjoying the party like you told me to do." Yoongi says in monotone.
Todd rolls his eyes and facepalms. "This isn't enjoying a party Yoongi.. you're just being a buzz kill." He puts his arm around Yoongi's shoulders. "Look man, I know it sucks that your mom died but she would want you to at least try to be happy. It's New Year's Eve! It's the time where we forget everything from this past year and start over. Who knows, something good could come out of it." He says poking Yoongi's chest. "Also, I heard Chandra.." then points to a black girl with brown tight curls in a little floral print dress and flats. "..thinks your cute and I know how you have a thing for black girls."
Yoongi looks over at Chandra who was chatting it up with another girl. He couldn't deny he found her attractive. "Come on. At least just have one beer and say hi." Todd pats Yoongi on the back and walks towards the ladies. Yoongi follows and when they approach, Todd breaks the ice. "Hello ladies. This is my good friend Yoongi." Yoongi smiles as he says, "Hello." while slightly bobbling his head.
Chandra looks at him with a soft smile as she replies, "Oh hi I'm Chandra." And the other girl greets with, "And I'm Brandy." Brandy was cute too but Chandra just happen to spike his interest.
"So Yoongi, are you from around here?" Chandra asks cutely.
He nods, "Yeah. I've lived in LA my whole life. But my mother is from South Korea. She moved here when she was pregnant with me." Though Chandra didn't need to know all of that, which Yoongi wondered why he did say all of that when he could have just said yeah.. she still carried on the conversation anyways. "Oh that's cool! So you must know Korean?"
"Yeah I do. Fluently. She taught me both at the same time. But I'm not going to lie, I get confused sometimes."
Chandra begins to giggle as she puts her hand on Yoongi's arm. "I'm sure you did. I would too."
She must have really been into him because no matter what he said, she was fully interested and no matter how awkward he was, she still found him cute. (But let's be real, he's fucking adorable.)
Hours pass and him and Chandra were hitting it off. She was making him smile and laugh. Doing a great job at making him forget he was depressed.
It was about to be midnight and people were getting ready to have their New Years kiss. "Guys it's about to start!" Someone yells making everyone look at the TV that was playing the New Years special.
