Back to delving way too deeply into Marius' thoughts.

He is still of the opinion that Valjean should not be allowed into Cosette's life anymore.

In those next few weeks when Valjean stopped visiting, Marius would comfort Cosette when she spoke of him and asked about him. He would say that Valjean must be out on a trip or something of the sort.

"Marius had little by little drawn Cosette away from Jean Valjean."

UGH I'm so conflicted over my opinion on this whole matter. I get what Valjean and Marius are thinking--that if Valjean's past catches up to him it would be devastating for Cosette to learn about it but also dangerous if she was discovered to be involved in it in any way. But also I want Cosette to be with Valjean and be happy.

*sigh*
