a/n: this book is inspired by the movie "but i'm a cheerleader" (10/10 would recommend)
"brendon, is your bag packed?" my mom yelled from the living room.
"yeah!" i shouted back.
my name's brendon, obviously, and my parents thought it was the most fucking dandy idea to send me to a gay conversion camp an hour away called "the true direction".
so this is going to be great.
i walked downstairs with my huge bag and groaned.
this is all allie's fault. if she hadn't told on me, i could be in gay wonderland alone right now.
my sister, allie, found me jacking off to some good ole gay porn in my room one day and decided to rat me out to my parents, so here i am now, about to be on my way to the true direction.
"it won't be so bad, brendon. when you come home, you'll be a new boy!" my mom said, trying to lighten the mood. i ignored her, just going back to walking to the car.
"we're only doing this because we love you, you know that, right?"
"sure, dad, whatever."
i put my bag in the trunk of the car and dreadfully got into the back seat with allie.
i really want to punch that bitch in the face right now, but that would just cause me to be in more trouble than i already am, and i don't want that. i'm already being force to go to heterosexual homophobe hell.
"brendon, i'm really sorry, i-"
"shove it, al. i don't want to hear from you."
my parents then entered the car and we started to drive off to the place where i would spend the worst four weeks of my life.
on the way there, i spent my time listening to enema of the state by blink-182, specifically dumpweed and dysentery gary, and watching a conspiracy theory video on youtube, so i'd say it was an okay time.
well, until the dreaded moment came and i had to get out of the car and be introduced to the true direction.
we were greeted by the owner of the camp (even though it wasn't even a fucking camp, it was like a straightie village with a few cabins and a main hall), marilee travis. she was an older lady, probably in her early 60s, and i hated her already.
"hello, you must be the urie family! i'm mrs marilee travis, the lead counselor here at the true direction. the other counselors here are an ex member of one of our graduating groups, jack beartrap, and my son, alex travis." (yes, it's jalex, but with different last names)
"it's nice to meet you, mrs travis. this is our son, brendon," my dad said, fake smiling at marilee.
she grinned at me and i internally cringed, but gave her a neutral expression in return.
eugh, i do not want to be here.
"i'll take it from here. thank you, grace!"
"no problem, marilee!"
my parents walked off with allie, her not even giving me a passing glance as they got into their car and drove off.
"hello, brendon. i will call alex over to help you get situated," marilee said sternly.
i didn't respond.
"alex! son! brendon urie has arrived!"
just then, a tall, skinny guy in his early 20s walked over to me and grabbed my bag from my hands gently.
"you'll be staying in the guy's cabin, obviously, but no funny business, please, if you know what i mean. i don't need to get into any more trouble with my mom than i'm already in."
"no problem, dude."
we walked several steps until alex opened the wooden door and we were in the guy's cabin.
i picked the last bed available, it being the bed in the left corner next to a window.
fun.
"everyone! gather in the main hall for step one!" i heard marilee yell through a megaphone.
i stepped out of the cabin and headed toward the main hall, nine other people following who i assumed was jack to the hall.
and one of them was sure as hell cute.
well, anyways, we all entered the main hall and sat in the chairs set out for us. i sat in between the cute guy and a really tall girl.
the cute guy sure was looking at me a lot.
and right when i noticed, he smiled at me with this adorable yet really fucking hot smirk. i grinned back, feeling good inside.
and that's when marilee, jack, and alex sat down loudly in their chairs and faced us like we were going to be interrogated by the fbi.
