day 3-sexuality and virginity

i woke up today before my bothersome alarm on my phone went off, so dallon wasn't as grumpy in the morning as he was yesterday, which is definitely a great thing. we were actually all up and getting ready at 6:50am with the help of the coffee machine and mugs in our cabin.

"oh god, everyone look at today's lesson on your schedules," spencer announced, holding a hairbrush in one hand and the camp schedule in the other.

everyone scrambled for their own schedules, ryan cringing and jon groaning at the sight of the lesson for today.

i stared at mine for a minute until it registered fully what we were talking about today in class.

"sexuality and virginity," ryan read aloud. "that'll be an extra fun lesson because we are all totally and completely good christian virgins. no premarital!"

"little does marilee know i lost my v card at age  14," spencer whispered.

"ooh, rebel!" jon said sarcastically, spencer shooting him a slightly amused grin from across the room.

"well, are you guys all ready to head down?" dallon asked a few minutes later.

"yeah, let's go," i responded.

we all filed out the cabin door and headed out on our way to the main hall cafeteria for breakfast.

"hey brendon," ryan started saying as he drifted back in the group to talk to me, "are you a virgin?"

"nah," i answered, a lump forming in the back of my throat. "i lost mine with this guy named ian during a summer fling before junior year."

"oh, okay."

ryan then caught up with spencer and started casually conversing with him again.

what the fuck just happened and why did he ask me that and then run away?

breakfast was, well, something else.

sarah was still majorly upset by the linda dumping her thing. i don't blame her, though. i was pretty upset when i had to break up with ian before we started school back up again in september last year.

ashley was being comforted by hayley for some unexplained reason. ashley looked extremely shaken up about something, though. maybe a family thing happened or someone didn't want to be friends with her anymore because of the camp. i know that if my old friends were even associated with me anymore that they would drop me the minute they heard about this camp because of their irrational fear of being called gay by other kids at our school. anyone who was even caught hanging out with me would be immediately called a fag or gay for some fucked up reason. i guess my gay is contagious, according to the school homophobes.

"well, class, you might've already seen this on your schedules, but our class today is going to be on the subjects of sexuality and virginity. we'll start with a question. how many of you students are not virgins?" marilee asked skeptically.

let's just say i'm not even one bit surprised by the number of hands that went up. lynn's hand went up like a bullet that was just shot out of a gun, while some others were rather tentative. i raised my hand slower than some, but ryan looked not one bit ashamed about his lack of virginity. spencer raised his hand casually; a little too casually if you ask me. jon's hand remained by his side, his face turning into a bit of an embarrassed expression by the number of non-virgins. let's just say it was a very little number out of the entirety of us.

dallon raised his hand right after sarah, who was kind of hesitant about raising hers. i could see her looking at meagan from time to time to see what she had to think about it. but, the funny thing was that meagan's hand was also raised. hayley's hand went up last. she was obviously scared to show that she had lost her virginity, especially being one of the youngest. ashley's hand was not raised, though.

"so, jack here is not a homosexual virgin, but he is a heterosexual virgin. my son alex, well, he is not one either, but both men have not had premarital heterosexual sex. that is the true way to happiness in marriage and relationships because it is like you are saving yourself for the one you love most," marilee explained, her facial expression looking a little disgusted but not surprised at the number of hands raised.

"i have a girlfriend named lisa and she's the greatest," alex added, jack obviously trying not to laugh.

"yes, lisa ruocco is a blessing to our family! but, i want to hear about you guys. how did you lose your virginities?" marilee asked, straining the word virginities off her tongue for a little bit too long.

this was going to be a rollercoaster of emotions for the students and staff, so they better buckle up and enjoy the ride.
