day 5-parent therapy
"today's parent therapy, boys, be prepared!" jon screeched at exactly 7am sharp.
"yay," spencer said groggily as he sat up in his bed.
"my dad is going to be so fake nice it's not even funny," ryan commented.
"my parents are going to be douchebags, i already sense it."
"it's okay, dallon," i responded comfortingly. "mine, too."
******
"we all welcome you, parents of our true directioners!" marilee said to the 20 parents in the room, each pair sitting with their teenager. "we will always start off the parent therapy meetings with a review of what we have taught the children this week. our first day was an introduction to your fellow homosexuals, second day was the root of your homosexuality, then the third was sexuality and virginity. yesterday's lesson was the church's view on homosexuality. how many of you parents raised your children to be religious?"
all of the parents raised their hands, including mine.
"let us go around and say our religions! mr and mrs gunnulfsen, you may start."
"both me and my wife are catholic. our lyndsey actually went through a catholic education up until sophomore year at st joseph high school," lynn's dad announced.
"nice choice! why did she change schools if you are catholic?" marilee asked in a way too assertive and judgmental tone.
"we had a problem with the principal because she was going to let lyndsey start a gay-straight alliance at school. i just couldn't let it happen," he responded.
wow; poor lynn. she has a fucking shithead for a dad.
after mr gunnulfsen made his statement, alex walked in with a girl who i assumed was his girlfriend, lisa.
"sorry lisa and i are a bit late," he started. i was right, ha! "there was traffic before we got onto the highway."
"it's okay, son. parents, this is my son, alex travis, and his girlfriend, lisa ruocco. he is an ex-homosexual who has attended this camp before."
"what does he do when she's away, fuck the other counselor?" a man who appeared to be dallon's dad said offensively.
"that was completely unnecessary and rude, mr weekes! i hope you are ashamed of yourself for accusing my son of such devilish acts. adultery is not a joking matter," marilee explained, mr weekes's facial expression not turning one bit sympathetic towards alex.
"it's okay, mom. he's not completely wrong; before i dated lisa, jack and i participated in some not so great acts. but, they are not ongoing and i haven't thought of doing something like that for months."
you're a big fucking liar, alex travis. we homos have eyes and overwhelmingly curious tendencies that can prove you wrong.
"we'll talk later," marilee declared sternly, lisa not even looking phased by the announcement alex made.
"it's not my fault your son's an incurable faggot," dallon's father murmured.
"that's enough out of you. i will see you next week because i suggest you leave," marilee responded to the offensive mumbling, mr weekes not hesitating to leave.
"i'm sorry," dallon apologized as both his mom and dad walked out the door and stormed to their car.
"it's okay, dallon. you do not have to apologize for your father's unacceptable behavior."
"i think anyone can be cured of their homosexuality with the right care and attention," my mom stated for everyone to hear, most parents agreeing by either a nod or accepting facial expression.
"you are correct!" marilee agreed.
while marilee started rambling about something i didn't care about again, i noticed ryan staring at me while simultaneously biting his almost worryingly short nails. i'm surprised he had enough nail to bite left; but, that's not the point. let's get back to ryan's non-nail related actions. he shifted his legs from almost man-spreading to crossed, almost as if he was trying to look classier as he noticed i looked back at him.
i didn't mind the way he was sitting; small things like that don't affect me in ways that people think they do. just because i come from the nicer suburbs of western nevada doesn't mean i'm some judgy snob.
ryan then discreetly rolled his eyes, implying that he too was uninterested in marilee's speech as i giggled under my breath. neither my parents nor his father seemed to notice our silent conversation, which was exceptional for us. he then smiled at me as we both started to more noticeably stare at each other.
"ryan?" marilee questioned as if she was trying to get his attention, startling ryan and i while also rudely interrupting our nonverbal conversing.
"yes?"
"what is your opinion on the programs here so far?"
"they're fine, i guess," he replied curtly.
"amazing! jonathan? what is your stance on our program."
"BULLSHIT!"
"jon! apologize for your language," mrs walker commanded.
"sorry, what i meant to say was BULLCRAP!" jon yelled as he put his hands in a cup sort of shape around his mouth to make his bellowing louder.
"i am so sorry, miss travis. jon here has had...authority issues lately that we are trying to deal with."
"no problem, but i have noticed. he is outwardly reluctant to our care and rarely obeys our commands during lessons and even occasions such as lunch or dinner."
"well duh, i don't obey. i'm not a goddamn dog."
"you know what i mean, mr walker. anyways, next we have miss camper. how do you like the true direction?"
"great," meagan answered through grinding teeth.
"astounding! i am not surprised, you are responding well to the lessons. miss orzechowski?"
"it's cool. nothing bad."
lies. every human being with a remotely intelligent or homosexual brain knows that sarah elizabeth orzechowski despises this camp with all her heart, mind, and soul; it's the same situation for meagan.
"spencer?"
"fine."
"it's a start! i feel as if he is starting to develop some authority-related reluctance as well."
"i'm sure it's just a phase he's getting from being in a new environment," spencer's father responded.
as if.
