Poem/Quote of the day:

We pray.

We play.

We hustle.

Chapter nine:

SAHAL'S P.O.V

WE left her alone and entered our car. The driver didn't for once think of asking where she was or why we were late. He wouldn't dare ask that.

Sahla assured me that whatever she did was none of our business, i agree with her but i had this feeling in the pit of my stomach. Like we could stop her but we didn't want to.

The feeling wouldn't leave. Was it pity?

Sorrow?

Guilt?

I don't know but i definitely didn't like it. I kept my thoughts on what we'd say when we were asked.

But it looked like Sahla had it all planned so I didn't worry about that.

The ride was silent and as soon as the car got parked, I walked out and Sahla was already out too.

I walked into the house but Ammi wasn't there to welcome me as she usually did.

Dad was most likely at work, he doesn't come back till later.

Sahla was already out of sight, probably in her room by now.

I sighed and walked to mine, entering the shower. After my bath, i still couldn't get the feeling out of my system.

I groaned as i got up and ran down the stairs, going outside.

Calling the driver, i told him to drive me to school.

He looked confused but he couldn't say a thing.

I rushed out of the car even before he could park.

Thank God the doors were open, i ran to the Janitor's closet and she was still there.

Unconscious.

Oh God what if she's dead?

I tried to calm myself down.

"Okay calm down Sahal. You're reading science. You're a born scientist. What do you do with a case like this?" I asked myself palming my face.

Pulse. Check her pulse.

I quickly checked her pulse, thanking God that there was actually a pulse.

She's not dead.

Without even thinking, i picked her up and ran outside. As soon as the driver saw me, he got the hint and opened the door.

I dropped her in the backseat.

"Asibiti." I said slightly out of breath.

When i found her, her wrists were still bleeding so I covered them up with my socks to stop the bleeding.

"Can't you see she's in a critical condition? Abeg yi sauri." I shouted at the driver. He was driving on 40amp and a girl is about to die.

She punctured some very important veins and i don't think she knew it could be fatal. The cuts were deep and she could actually die if she wasn't hospitalized immediately.

Why did i even listen to Sahla? I dont like Afeerah but I'd never wish death on her.
