Poem/Quote of the day:

Now I'm everything you said that I wasn't.

-Ms. Molatto

Chapter Fifteen:

SAHAL'S P.O.V

I groaned and punched my pillow.

Why her?

Of all the girls on this world why her?

Why Afeerah Mustapha?

Why does my heart beat faster when she's around?

Why do I always want to make her happy when I say I hate her?

Why do I want to crush the person who pained her?

Why am I helplessly falling for a maid? Why??

I punched the pillow harder. I need to talk to someone.

Anyone.

I got out of my room and entered Ammi's. The room was empty, no Ammi and no twins.

I walked to Daddy's room and got in.

After exchanging formal pleasantries, I asked him where Ammi went.

"Didn't she tell you? She's probably in Kaduna now." He said.

I remember her saying she was planning on going there but she didn't say when.

"And the twins?" I asked.

"They're with their nanny at magic land." He said.
I pulled out my phone and dialled her number.

"The number you dialled is not reachable at the moment, please ty again later, thank you."

"She's not picking up." I sighed.

Daddy tried and the same message was delivered to him.

I was getting worried. "Did they go by car?"

"Yes,the tickets for the train were sold out." He replied and dialled Anti Ameena's number.

She picked up and he put it on speaker.

"Bilkees bata iso bane?" He asked.

"Bata iso ba. I thought she wasn't coming anymore." She replied.

"Ta je fah but her phone is unreachable."

We spent two hours trying her number but to no avail.

Ammi, where are you?

We heard a high pitched scream. Sahla's high pitched scream.

She was downstairs. I ran down.

"What happened?" I asked.

"None of your business." She snapped.

I sighed and I was about to go upstairs when a sentence coming from the TV stopped me.

"Breaking news. There was a shootout some hours ago on the way to Abuja and Kaduna,. 6 people dead and 5 injured severely."

That's when i thought I lost it. My brain refused to work and my legs let go.

"Sahal!" Sahla screamed.

"C-call Daddy immediately." I said my vision not so clear.

She understood this wasn't a joke because she ran upstairs.

Daddy came down with her and stopped when he saw the headlines of the news.

"Sahal get up. We have to go." Daddy's voice was shaking.
