Poem/Quote of the day:
Love is an open door
-Anna Of Arindell
Chapter Twelve:
SAHAL'S P.O.V
I set my alarm to 6 in the morning because i wanted to go get Afeerah from the hospital as soon as possible without anyone finding out.
But I knew she needed a fresh pair of clothes and the only clothes that would fit her were sahla's.
When i woke up, i snuck into sahla's room quietly so she wouldn't feel my presence and wake up.
I opened her drawer and my eyes searched for some clothing.
The only good enough thing I found were a black abaya and it's veil.
Just as i closed the wardrobe, I heard Sahla stir and i quickly hid behind a thick curtain.
She got up and sat straight, looking at the door. Her eyes lingered on the open gap I didn't bother to close.
I held my breath as she checked the time and decided to go back to sleep.
As soon as she closed her eyes and with a swift move, i slipped out of the room and closed the door.
‼‼‼
I packaged the clothes and some fruit in a bag and quietly called the driver.
I told him i was going our but he had to be quiet.
When we went out of the house's premises, i told him to take me to the hospital we went to the other day.
I walked in and went to the nurse in charge of her room.
"Assalamualaikum." I said polity.
She answered with the usual waalaikumusallam.
"I'm here to discharge Afeerah Mustapha, she was under your care." I said getting to the point.
She looked thoughtful for a second. "She left just now."
My heart fell. "What? She left?"
"A second ago precisely"
My thoughts ran wild and my blood became cold.
She's sick and out in the streets. What if something happened to her?
What if someone did something?
Without glancing at the nurse again, i entered my car and the driver sled out.
"Slowly." I ordered, looking for any sign of her.
And then I saw it.
A girl with torn uniforms. She was walking all alone.
The car stopped and i jumped out, running to her.
"Where do you think you're going?" I asked sternly.
She tried to give me a cold face bur I could still see the nervousness in her eyes. "Thats none of your business sir."
I slightly closed my eyes and rubbed my temple. "Get in the car."
"No. You've done enough act of showing pity by taking me to the hospital and paying the bills." She said indignantly.
She thought i did this out of pity? Right.
"Get in the car." I repeated.
"I said no." She said confidently but her knees trembled.
"I'm just trying to help." I sighed.
"I don't need your help." She said.
"You do."
"You're not a knight in shining armor neither am I a damsel in distress."
I almost laughed when she said that. "I'm just taking you home before people figure out you're missing."
She sighed in defeat and got in the car.
The car ride was silent and the air was awkward.
When we arrived home, it was already 7:15 but the house still wasn't awake. On weekends we sleep late.
Afeerah, without giving me a glance walked in.
What was I expecting?
A hug?
A thank you?
A kiss?
I shook my head and walked to my room.
The whole time I couldn't stop thinking about her.
I hated her but there was something about her that just stood out.
She was blunt when she wasn't threatened or scared.
She didn't like accepting help.
Her eyes twinkled when she was sad.
She was naive and vulnerable.
I kept on listing things about her in my head.
The clock read 10am.
I've been thinking about her for this long?
She was still on my mind when i showered, when i brushed.
When i did everything.
I knew what this was.
Oh God I hate her so so much.
But there's this part of me.
Where I dont see things with my eyes but my heart.
I can't deny a thing.
But i can fight it.
After all I hate her.
But here I am, finding myself falling for her.
Oh heck no.
