Poem/Quote of the day:

Still nothing...

Chapter Thirty One:

SAHLA'S P.O.V

I woke up still remembering the fact that my father left. He left.

He's died.

I didn't bother to dressup, just applying lotion on my body.

I walked down the stairs in a slow pace, grimacing at the pain I felt in my heart.

There must have been some more guests who came to offer their condolences.

Sahal had been attending to guests since his death, I only stopped to greet them.

I entered the parlor just in time to hear Sahal say; "Afeerah?"

Afeerah? Since she left, I completely pushed her to the farthest corner of my brain.

I looked at the man and woman sitting side by side.

The man I had never seen before but the woman; she looked extremely familiar.

I could never forget her face anywhere. What was she doing here?

Why is she back?

"What's the maid doing here?" I asked with so much bitterness I could taste it.

They all looked up at me. Afeerah gave me a polite smile and got up. "Hi Sahla. It's been long." She hugged me.

I stood still and watched Sahal's surprised face.

She drew herself back and told me to sit. "We were about to have a reunion but we can't have one without the main character herself." She smiled, her eyes flicked to Sahal.

"Ayman this is Sahla, the one I told you about?" She said looking at the man beside her.

"Oh I've heard alot about you Sahla, I'm Ayman, Afeerah's husband." He said looking at me.

The hell? She's married. Why is she married?
Afeerah placed her hand on her tummy and only then did I notice the bump there.

Married and pregnant? What happened after all these years and why is she back here?

"Why are you back after so long?" Sahal asked clearing his throat.

"I heard about my father's death or did you think I didn't care about that?" She said, still smiling.

Sahal didn't answer and there was an awkward silence in the room.

"Sahla, can you call us a maid to pack our stuff to our room?" She asked me.

Holy pizza.

They planned on staying here. For how long?

I was about to retort but Sahal beat me to it.

"I'll do it." He said and stood up, leaving.

"How long do you plan on staying?" I asked bluntly.

"It's my house so I can decide when to leave right?" She reminded me, smirking.

This wasn't like the old Afeerah I knew. The old Afeerah wouldn't dare say that to me.

It seemed as though she had changed. A lot.

"Absolutely. If you would excuse me." I said and left the couple to themselves.

I bumped into Sahal on my way upstairs. He looked worn out and torn.

"Did you expect that bitch to come her and start acting like she owns the place?" I said to him.

He shrugged. "She does own this place."

"You're still taking her side. Open your eyes Sahal. Believe it or not, whatever you two had is over. She's obviously moved on." I scoffed.

He shook his head and walked past me.

Why is my brother so stupid? What does he even see in her anyway?

I hate her now that she's back and I'll make sure she leaves our lives forever.

Whatever it takes.
