I was with Drew, and we were watching as the water crashed into the boat. Max had disappeared somewhere, so he couldn't see all the water Pokemon as they splashed in the water below.
"It's so beautiful." I whispered, and looked over to Drew, who had somehow gotten hold of a flower, a rose.
"Mmm." Drew replied, not really paying attention to me.
"Love birds!" Harley exclaimed, a girl almost hiding behind him.
"Harley. I thought you said you were travelling alone. Who is this?" Drew teased and Harley rolled his eyes.
"This is a new trainer who was yelling at Ash because he wouldn't come back to fetch her. Kind of childish, don't you think." Harley said, and The girl was taken aback.
"He said he would be there on my journey! He promised me, not that you ever cared. I thank you for getting me here." She snapped, her eyes filling with tears, although she tried to keep them in.
"Yes, it is a bit childish, but a promise is a promise. And it is like Ash to break a promise." A boy with purplish said and The girl wiped her tears away quickly.
"How would you know?
"Cause he promised me he would be stronger next time we battled."
"Who are you?" I asked both the girl and the boy.
"Come on Paul! Battle me!" Kenny called, running to catch up to the purpled haired trainer, and then he stopped and looked at me. "May! You're Dawn's friend!"
"Ah..." I said, and Drew had a worried glint in his eye.
"May! Look! I found Dawn!" Max exclaimed and he came running up, Dawn behind him.
"How do you run so fast?" Dawn gasped panting, and then looked at the group that had gathered. "I think we should introduce ourselves for everyone. You start." Dawn said, pointing at the girl who gulped quickly.
"Ah... I'm Layla. I'm a new trainer and I'm hoping to do both contest and gym battles. I only have one Pokemon." Layla said, fiddling her fingers.
"May! I am a coordinator! And this is my brother, Max. He doesn't have Pokemon yet." I introduced myself, and Max mumbled something.
"Drew, coordinator."
"Kenny! I'm a coordinator too!"
"Harley and I'm going to win this grand festival, Drew." Harley said, and he stormed off though he had stayed close by.
"Dawn! I'm a coordinator! I came from Sinnoh!"
"Why are we telling names?" Paul said, and ignored Layla's urgent look.
"Ah... Are you guys travelling together? I need a travel partner..." Layla said, and the coordinators looked at each over.
"We could." May said and Drew just shrugged.
"It would be cool to teach a new trainer! Maybe Paul could join us!" Kenny said, and he went to ask Paul.
"Ok! Layla! You can join the four..." Dawn glanced at Paul, "Maybe five of us."
"Yay! Thank you Dawn! Do you think Paul would join us? I'm a really big fan of his; I watched the league on T.V and Ash told me about his battles against him!" Layla said, and I sighed.
"Layla, what Pokemon do you have, do you want to battle against me?" Dawn said and Layla stiffened.
"M... Me? I... I can't..." Layla stuttered and Drew rolled his eyes.
"You can't be a coordinator if you won't battle."
"It isn't that..." Layla said and she ran to hide.
