"Layla, we are going to help train you for contest. Being strong is one thing, but being beautiful is more important." May said, and Layla nodded. I didn't understand why she wanted to do contests; then again I have always been more interested in gyms.

"OK... Snivy and Pidgey, come on out!" Layla said, bringing her Pokemon out. She still shied away a little.

"Now, you should use your Pokemon's moves to make them look beautiful." Drew said, and he brought out his Roserade. "Roserade, use petal dance." Roserade used petal dance and the petals shoot up, and fell down in a beautiful array around them.

"Beautiful..." Layla whispered, and even though I would hate to admit it, it was true.

"Now, what do you think will show off your Pokemon?" May asked and Layla nodded.

"Ah... Snivy! Shoot Attract in the air, and follow it with leaf storm!" Layla commanded, and she was a natural. She was really good at both battling and showing off her Pokemon.

"Beautiful!" May and Dawn called out as some of the hearts popped, shimmering, and the rest of the leaves and hearts fell down. Even Kenny and Drew looked amazed.

"You should stick with battling." I snapped, a little bit jealous. How the h*** was she a natural at both?

"You... Think I should?" Layla asked me, and I sighed, shaking my head. It was now obvious I was jealous, and although everyone else gave me encouraging glanced, Layla just looked confused.

"Now, what can we do with Pidgey?" Drew asked and Layla got out her Pokedex and checked Pidgey's moves.

"Ah... Pidgey... Use tackle and sandstorm, and race around the sky!" Layla yelled, and Pidgey did just that, making beautiful patterns in the sky.

"Wonderful!" May yelled, and Layla clapped her hands excitedly.

"Layla, you should practise another battle. Even coordinators need to battle." I said, and although May and Drew wanted to work on more beautiful moves, they nodded. "Who do you want to battle?"

"You again, and we should do two on two." Layla said, and rolled my eyes. This girl just wants to lose every battle.

"Fine." I said, and we took our positions.

"Snivy, you can go first! Pidgey, get ready for your battle!" Layla called to her Pokemon, and May and Drew went elsewhere, probably to practise, or make out. Dawn and Kenny were still here though, although they were cheering for Layla.

"Elective, you're up first." I said, and released his Pokeball. "You can have the first move Layla."

"Snivy, use leaf storm!" Layla called out, and Dawn smiled, until she realised she was going for power.

"Layla, remember, that you need to look beautiful in contest too." She said, and Layla nodded, but she still continued on with her power attacks.

"Dawn, she is battling for gyms, not contest." I called to the sidelines, and she sighed, nodding.

"Elective, use thunder punch." The battle went on, but Snivy fainted. After taking out Eletive, I put Froslass in, and eventually Pidgey also fainted.

"Good job Snivy and Pidgey. I'll improve." Layla said, returning her Pidgey. She reminded me of Ash a little, to no surprised, but she was a whole lot different.
